Lit Youngstown presents a writing through grief workshop series with writer and teacher Sydney Stalnecker at the main library in Youngstown on Tuesday evenings at 6pm from April 28 through June 2. These sessions will include group poetry readings, peer-led discussion, thought-provoking prompts, and the opportunity for participants to share work. The workshop is free and open to the public. The Trumbull Art Gallery at 158 N Park Ave in Warren presents the exhibition, "NO GUARANTEES" on display from Saturday, April 18,  through Friday May 29. The gallery is open Thursday and Fridays from 12-4pm and Saturdays from 11am-3pm. "NO GUARANTEES," is an exhibition of 19 women artists working and living in the Mahoning Valley, and includes a wide range of media, including painting, photography, printmaking, drawing, mixed media, ceramics, fiber, and quiltmaking. This exhibition is free and open to the public.

There will be an opening reception, Saturday, April 18 from 6-8pm.

"Finding Place"

Lit Youngstown presents a six session writing through grief workshop with writer and teacher Alex Abruzzi on Thursday evenings from 6:00-7:30pm from April 2 through May 14 at the Girard Library. Sessions will include group poetry readings, peer-led discussion, thought-provoking prompts, and the opportunity to share work. "Finding Place"

The Youngstown Skatepark and Thrive Mahoning Valley present a free, pop-up skatepark on Friday, May 1 from 1:00-4:00pm on Phelps St in Youngstown for riders of all skill levels on skateboards, BMX bikes, scooters, in-line skates, and roller skates. More info at youngstownskatepark.org

"Finding Place"

The Youngstown Branch of the American Association of University Women present the program From Classroom to Career: Bridging education and workforce readiness through real-world application. on Tuesday, May 5 at 5:30pm at the United Way Volunteer Resource Center, at 8133 Market Street, in Boardman. Michele Merkel, president of Junior Achievement of Easter Ohio and Traci Hostetler, superintendent of the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio, will discuss the initiatives and transforming programs of the organizations. This event is free and open to the public.

Lit Youngstown’s First Wednesday Reader presents Youngstown historian Ben Lariccia and Cleveland novelist Abby Vandiver on Wednesday, May 6 at 7pm at the Westside Bowl on Mahoning Ave in Youngstown.
