The McDonough Museum of Art presents the exhibition "Sketches & Storyline: An Illustrator’s Creative Process" by Laura Garvin from May 29 to July 18.
Laura Garvin is currently the Illustrator Coordinator and Social Media Coordinator for the Pennsylvania: West region of SCBWI and is a graduate from Youngstown State University with a BFA in Graphic + Interactive Design.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 to 4:00. All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
Lit Youngstown is offering a writing workshop for empty nesters on Tuesday evenings from 6-7pm at LOOP Arts & Culture Center at 805 Mahoning Ave in Youngstown from June 9-July 14. Whether returning to writing or starting fresh, this workshop offers steady support, conversation, and space to explore what’s next through readings and short prompts. The McDonough Museum of Art presents the exhibition "Random Acts of Artists (RAA)’s Moving Forward, Looking Back" from May 29 to July 24.
Beginning as a grassroots movement of around a dozen artists in June of 2014 Random Acts of Artists (RAA), now consists of nearly one hundred creative individuals located in Western Pennsylvania and Eastern Ohio representing the fields of fine arts, theater, music, dance, design, crafts, and more.
The museum is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 11:00 - 4:00. All exhibitions are free and open to the public.
The McDonough Museum of Art presents the exhibition "RUSTED ROOTS: Exploring Our Connection" by Sharon Dundee from May 29 to July 18.
Of her work in her current exhibition Sharon Dundee states, “There is a certain commonality of experience for those, like me, who were raised in the Midwest "Rust Belt" during the 60s, 70s, and 80s - a connection to other people who grew up in similar circumstances, with similar cultural influences."

Beiersdorfer states, “#inhale__#exhale welcomes you to slow down and engage in the experience, unfolding at the pace of interaction rather than urgency, through the use of color, sound, and temporality."
The McDonough Museum of Art presents the exhibition "Stitches in Time" from May 29 to July 18.
In celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, Stitches in Time features artwork and artifacts which showcase how the people of the Mahoning Valley have both influenced and reflected on the passage of American history.

The Butler Institute of American Art presents Senior Art & Learn, the third Thursday of every month, through November. This free event is for adults 55+ who are interested in learning more about the art in our museum. Seniors will be led on a docent-guided tour of a featured exhibition that encourages “slow looking” and engagement. Seating available. More information at butlerart.com.
