Mill Creek MetroParks presents the exhibit Through Our Eyes, through Sunday, July 6th, in the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center, at Fellows Riverside Garden, in Youngstown. Through Our Eyes features nature-oriented works in watercolor, acrylic, pastel and ink by artists Noreen Yazvac and Elizabeth Ford. The Davis Center is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 10 am – 5 pm. Both Yazvac and Ford are past presidents and current members of the Mahoning Valley Watercolor Society. Their artistic journeys began at Youngstown State University, where they honed their talents and developed their individual voices in visual art.
The Trumbull County Historical Society & Medici (meh DEE chee) Museum of Art present Science Fiction & Hollywood: The Art of John Zabrucky, an exhibition showcasing modern props designed by Zabrucky now on display at the Medici Museum of Art through June 28th. An American prop designer and co-founder of Modern Props Inc., Zabrucky contributed props to hundreds of films such as Ghostbusters and RoboCop, as well as films and TV series in the Star Trek, Marvel, and DC franchises. The Trumbull Art Gallery presents the exhibition Arcs/Angles/Sound, on display through June 27th, Thursdays and Fridays from 12-4 pm and Saturday from 11-3 pm. This exhibition pays tribute to Tony Armeni for his decades of work as an artist, educator, and musician in the Mahoning Valley. More information is available at trumbullartgallery.com
His sculptures are included in both national and local collections, such as the Butler Institute of American Art, the Ward Beecher Planetarium, and various locations in Youngstown.
The YSU McDonough Museum of Art presents its Summer Schedule with four exhibitions running through July 19th. Featured are regional artists Ronald Jason Van Hoose, Jeffrey S. Piper, Mike Egan, and students from the Inspiring Minds program. The galleries are free and open to the public, Tuesday through Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm. More information at ysu.edu/mcdonough-museum.
