The Canfield Community Concert Band will present a special tribute concert, Salute to Squire: Memories of the Warren Junior Military Band, on Sunday, May 4, at 3:00 pm, at Zion Lutheran Church, 3300 Canfield Road, Youngstown. The concert honors the legacy of the Warren Junior Military Band (WJMB), a regional treasure that left a lasting mark on the Mahoning Valley and beyond. This concert is a heartfelt tribute to the values of musical excellence, patriotism, and tradition instilled by longtime director Donald W. “Squire” Hurrelbrink, who led the band for 66 years.
The concert program will feature favorites from the WJMB repertoire, including:
Folk Song Suite by Ralph Vaughan Williams; Excerpts from 1812 Overture by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky;
Caribbean Fantasy by John Morrissey; Selections from Mr. Lucky by Henry Mancini;
Amparito Roca by Jaime Texidor; Patriotic marches by John Philip Sousa, And more!
Admission is free. Attendees are encouraged to support Zion Lutheran Church’s food ministry by bringing canned goods or monetary donations.
