YSU Dana Opera Ensemble: Spring Opera - Alcina
YSU Dana Opera Ensemble: Spring Opera - Alcina
The Dana Opera Ensemble of the YSU Dana School of Music presents its spring opera, Alcina, by George Frideric Handel. Alcina, composed in 1735, is a Baroque opera that explores themes of magic, illusion, and love, and is renowned for its dramatic and expressive music. Performances are on Friday, April 11th, at 7:30 pm; and Sunday, April 13th at 2 pm, at Ford Theater, in YSU's Bliss Hall. Tickets are available at ysu.tix.com.
The Dana Opera Ensemble, led by Dr. Misook Yun, is designed to help students learn about the complex process of creating an operatic experience. Through the mastery of roles, proper diction, and character development, students learn how to relate to other performers, choreograph their movements on stage, and follow a conductor while acting.
Parking for events in Bliss Hall is available at the Wick Avenue Deck (M30) for a $5 fee payable in cash only.
