We Are Back On-The-Air in New Wilmington, PA at 89.7 FM!

88.5 WYSU-FM is pleased to announce that it is back on-the-air in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania with a new frequency and call letters: 89.7 MHz W209CQ

Due to a clerical error that occurred in 1997, WYSU discovered that it would have to cease broadcast on its 97.5 MHz W248AD translator in New Wilmington, PA in December 2019. Upon that discovery, WYSU immediately began the process of returning service to New Wilmington as quickly as possible.

After working closely with the station attorney and consulting engineer, procuring necessary equipment, scheduling required maintenance, and filing necessary documents with the FCC, WYSU was granted a new broadcast license for New Wilmington, PA in July 2020. Additionally, the new license permits WYSU to broadcast with approximately 42% more power in New Wilmington than the previous license, resulting in better coverage throughout the community.

Chris Hartman, WYSU's Chief Engineer, says, "I'm glad that WYSU is able to resume broadcasting in the New Wilmington, PA area. We have always strived to put our mission of serving the community at the forefront of every action we take or service we provide, and returning to PA is evidence of our continued fulfilment of that promise to the region. I'd like to thank the leadership at WYSU and YSU for enabling us to rejoin the New Wilmington broadcast community, and I'd like to thank our loyal listeners in New Wilmington who have been patiently awaiting our return."
