Exploring the Intersection of Working Class and LGBTQ+ Identity

The YSU LGBTQ+ Alumni Chapter will present a Zoom discussion on class, intersectionality, the intersection of class and sexuality, and what can be done locally to address issues facing LGBTQ+ students and others related to class, on Tuesday, Febraury 2, at 7 pm.  The presenter will be Dr. Timothy Francisco, Professor of English and Director of The Center for Working Class Studies at YSU. YSU Alumni Lecture Series: Larry Davis, retired Executive Producer and Creative Director at Walt Disney Imagineering

Beginning with a love for biology, Larry Davis ’76 credits some incredible instructors with channeling a creative passion that helped launch a career showcasing his sculpture, and ultimately retiring from Walt Disney Imagineering as Executive Producer and Creative Director for the Main Entrance of Shanghai Disneyland. The January YSU Alumni and Friends Virtual Book Club selection will be "The Color of Love: The Story of a Mixed-Race Jewish Girl" by Marra Gad. Winner of the 2020 Midwest Book Award in Autobiography/Memoir, The Color of Love is a memoir about a mixed-race Jewish woman who, after fifteen years of estrangement from her racist great-aunt, helps bring her home when Alzheimer's strikesThis event will be held in Zoom. Jazz Alumni Spotlight Volume 1 with Dave Lalama

Dave Lalama '76 is currently Professor of Music at Hofstra University and is a founding faculty member of the Manhattan School of Music Jazz Program. He received his doctorate in music composition from New York University and is active as a clinician, arranger and performer throughout the United States.
