Youngstown Symphony opens with Oktoberfest

The Youngstown Symphony opens the 2017-2018 season with a Classics concert on October 7, at the DeYor Performing Arts Center in Youngstown. Experience a uniquely Bavarian Oktoberfest with a craft beer tasting and the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra featuring the music of Brahms and Wagner. The concert also features renowned pianist and Youngstown State University professor Caroline Oltmanns performing Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 3 in C Minor.

Tuesday Musical brings Marsalis to Akron September 28!

The legendary music of The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis comes to EJ Thomas Hall at The University of Akron, Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7:30 p.m.  

Views and Brews Archive Now Available

WYSU hosted the second Views and Brews City Club event at Suzie's Dogs and Drafts in Downtown Youngstown. The panel's topic was climate change.

Cokie Roberts in Youngstown January 11!

WYSU is excited to announce that NPR commentator and author Cokie Roberts is coming to Youngstown on Thursday, January 11, at 7 at Stambaugh Auditorium.   Tickets go on sale November 1, at the Stambaugh Box office at 330-259-0555 or online.

 

A Low-Key Membership Campaign

When we scheduled our annual three-day fund drive for September, the two devastating hurricanes that recently hit the Southern United States were nowhere on our radar. Now, of course, they very much are. The amount of relief needed is going to depend on all of us to do our part, and we encourage you to do what you can to support the cleanup and humanitarian efforts.

Seven Years for Silly Science Sunday at Oh Wow!

OH WOW! and friends kick-off the 7th Annual Silly Science Sunday on Sunday, Sept. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oh Wow! Children's Center for Science and Technology in downtown Youngstown.  Everyone is invited to join the fun as OH WOW! hosts activities that will spill out of the doors at 11 W. Federal and onto the street! The fun includes games and demonstrations for families and folks of all ages.  

Dining around Warren to support Mahoning Valley College Access

The Mahoning Valley College Access Program (MVCAP) -- a new underwriter for WYSU -- is hosting an October Harvest Progressive Dinner on Saturday, October 7, at locations around Courthouse Square and nearby locations in Warren.  WYSU is a media sponsor for this event, which is a fundraiser for MVCAP.  The non-profit organization helps students in Youngstown and Warren further their education beyond high school, including providing advising services, group workshops, last dollar scholarships, and early college and career awareness.

The theme for our Listener Friendly Membership Campaign is "We are counting members, and we are counting on you!"  And we are especially counting on current members of the station, to stay with us.

Something is Brewing at OH WOW!

WYSU is pleased to support underwriter OH WOW!  The Roger & Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science & Technology, as they launch the 6th Annual Science of Brewing, an event that features wine, beer and spirit tastings!
