Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens: Summer Garden Party

Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens will hold their Summer Garden Party, Welcome Back to the Gardens on Friday, July 30 from 6 to 10 pm, at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Youngstown. The event will feature a variety of musical entertainment, hors d’oeuvres [ore DURVS], and a cash bar. Guests are asked to RSVP by July 9. YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts: The 23rd Annual Summer Festival of the Arts

Youngstown State University's 23rd Annual Summer Festival of the Arts will be held at the new Wean Foundation Park in downtown Youngstown on July 17th and 18th. The Summer Festival of the Arts, open to the public, was started in 1999 and attracts more than 70 artists and 15,000 visitors annually. YSU Summer Festival of the Arts: Volunteers

Organizers for the 23rd annual YSU Summer Festival of the Arts, scheduled for July 17 and 18 at its new location at Wean Park, are seeking volunteers for the event.  Volunteers are needed for artist registration; information booths; in the children's hands-on art tent; and for technical assistance at performance sites, among other areas. Ursuline Education & Wellness Center: Guided Labyrinth Walk

 The Ursuline Education & Wellness Center, 4280 Shields Road, is resuming its monthly Guided Labyrinth Walks after a hiatus last year because of the pandemic.  Each walk will be led by a different facilitator. Opera Western Reserve: Three Pigs and a Blanket & The Big Baaad Cabaret

Opera Western Reserve is presenting back-to-back live events at the DeYor Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 11.  At 4:30 pm and 6 pm are two free performances of the children's opera  The Three Little Pigs, in the outdoor courtyard at DeYor Performing Arts Center.  That will be followed by The Big, Baaad Cabaret, at 8 pm, featuring soprano Randa Rouweyha and tenor Jesus Daniel singing duets ranging from opera arias to Broadway favorites.  Ticket information is available at operawesternreserve.org.

 

 

World Press Freedom Day to be observed at YSU

The Youngstown Press Club will observe World Press Freedom Day at noon May 3 in Youngstown State University’s Kilcawley Center. During the observance, which will be streamed on the Youngstown Press Club Facebook group page, press club members will read the names of 50 journalists killed while serving their communities in 2020 and five additional journalists killed so far this year.

YSU Legacy Forest Program: Earth Day Tree Dedication

The YSU Legacy Forests Program presents the Earth Day Tree Dedication for the 2020 Freshmen Class Tree, on Thursday, April 22, at 2 pm, on the west side of Tod Hall on the YSU campus.  Every year, the YSU Legacy Forests program will plant trees equal to the number of incoming freshmen.  A sign-up list for members of the campus community to participate in the next tree planting will be available at this dedication.
