Beech Creek Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserve: Literacy in the Gardens

The Beech Creek Botanical Gardens and Nature Preserve presents Literacy in the Gardens, through Sunday, September 11. Literacy in the Gardens includes interactive Storybook trails in the blooming gardens  and reading in the little libraries, with reading pods or hammocks. YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts: The Summer Festival of the Arts

YSU's Cliffe College of Creative Arts presents the 24th annual Summer Festival of the Arts on July 9th and 10th at Wean Park in downtown Youngstown, near the Covelli Centre. Saturday hours are 10 to 6, and Sunday hours are 11 to 5. The Festival features an artists' marketplace, family activities, music, cultural groups, and theater and dance performances. The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown: Guided Labyrinth Walks

 The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown present a Guided Labyrinth Walk each month from June through October.  Each walk is led by a different facilitator, either an Ursuline Sister or Associate, with the meditation centering on the theme of hospitality. Walks generally take 20 to 30 minutes. The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown  began their work in the Mahoning Valley in 1874.  More information at the ursulinecenter.org.

Friends of Poland Forest: Wildflower Walk

The Friends of Poland Forest present a Wildflower Walk, on Saturday May 7, at 10 am, beginning at the College Street entrance to Poland Municipal Forest. Ecologist Kyle Filicky and his colleagues will lead a leisurely walk discussing the Forest's amazing wildflowers and ecology, and highlighting the spectacular Virginia Bluebells. It is a good opportunity to see migrating warblers, as well. 

 

Art in the Wilds: Fine Art and Fine Craft Show

Art in the Wilds is a juried Fine Art and Fine Craft Show, Saturday, June 25 and Sunday, June 26, in Kane in northern Pennsylvania. The show brings together the region’s finest artists and artisans. Mare information at artinthewilds.org.

Youngstown Road Runners Club: 32nd Mill Creek Distance Classic Half Marathon and 5-Mile Races

The Youngstown Road Runners Club presents the 32nd Mill Creek Distance Classic Half Marathon and 5-mile races, on Sunday, March 27 The Half marathon begins at 8:30, and the 5-mile at 8:45 am. The race location is the Davis Center, at 123 McKinley Avenue, and is run entirely in Mill Creek Park. More information at ytownrunners.org.
