Stambaugh Auditorium: Children's Summer Arts Camp

Stambaugh Auditorium presents the Children’s Summer Arts Camp, Monday, July 11 through Friday, 15. The five-day camp will culminate in the production of a full-scale musical production of Johnny Appleseed.  The purpose of the Arts Camp is to increase children’s access to, knowledge of, and appreciation for performing arts. Canton Symphony Orchestra: Triumphant Tchaikovsky

The Canton Symphony Orchestra presents the concert Triumphant Tchaikovsky, on Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 pm, at Umstattd (UM-sted) Hall, in Canton. Featured will be Tchaikovsky’s Violin Concerto, with guest soloist Jinjoo Cho, Jean Sibelius' 3rd Symphony, and Rick Robinson’s Essay No. 1 “After Sibelius.”  Tickets and information at cantonsymphony.org.

     

Canton Symphony Orchestra: World Premiere of A Planet's Odyssey

The Canton Symphony Orchestra, presents the world premiere of Daniel Perttu's [PERT-two] "A Planet's Odyssey" on Sunday, May 22 at 7:30 PM at Umstattd (UM-sted) Hall in Canton. In this new piano concerto, Perttu and soloist Jeffrey Biegel will take the audience on a voyage through our solar system in the form of a theme and variations that explores the unique properties and characteristics of each planet. The New Music Guild: Festival Gala Concert

The New Music Guild presents its Festival Gala Concert on Sunday, May 15, at 3 pm, at Saints Peter & Paul Church, Holy Apostles Parish, 421 Covington Street, in Youngstown. The concert will feature works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Felix Mendelssohn, Wanda Sobieska, and Robert Rollin.  The Festival Chamber Orchestra will perform Sobieska’s transcription of movements from Handel’s Water Music, and premiere Rollin’s Adam’s and Aidan’s Reverie. Also performing is pianist Patrick Wickliffe. Admission is free.

YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts: YSU Youth Orchestra Concert

The YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts presents  the Spring Concert by the YSU Youth Orchestra, on Monday, May 9, at 7:30 pm, at Stambaugh Auditorium, on Fifth Avenue, in Youngstown.  Tickets are available at stambaughauditorium.com or at the door.  

Formerly the Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra, the group is open to students ages 13-18 by audition, and is now sponsored and supported by the Cliffe College of Creative Arts and the Dana School of Music.

Nathaniel Gumbs at Stambaugh Auditorium

New York Native Dr. Nathaniel Gumbs will present a concert featuring the E.M. Skinner Pipe Organ in the Concert Hall at Stambaugh Auditorium on Sunday, June 5th at 4:00 PM.  Dr. Gumbs has delighted audiences throughout the United States and abroad and is a stunning example of youthful yet masterful talent.  Tickets are available Monday through Friday, 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM by calling 330-259-9651, or in person at the DeYor Performing Arts Center. The Illuminare (Ee-loo-me-NAH-ray) Choral Ensemble presents the program Sing, All Ye Nations!, on Saturday, May 21 at 7:30 pm, at St. Peter of the Fields Church, 3487 Old Forge Road, in Rootstown; and Sunday, May 22 at 7:00 pm, St. Thomas Church, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, in ViennaVienna.
