YSU Youth Orchestra to Perform at Stambaugh Auditorium

The YSU Youth Orchestra, comprised of area high school and middle school students, will perform a concert on Monday, December 6 at 7 PM at Stambaugh Auditorium. The 70-plus members of the Youth Orchestra will perform Rossini’s 'William Tell Overture', Pilsner’s 'A Light in the Ocean', and Dvořák’s (duh-VORSZ-ahks) Symphony No. 9 'New World'. Stambaugh Chorus and the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band: A Holiday Concert of Giving

The Stambaugh Chorus and the Youngstown Area Community Concert Band present the annual Holiday Concerto of Giving, on Sunday, December 12, at 4 pm, at Stambaugh Auditorium, on Fifth Avenue, in Youngstown. Admission is free, although a monetary goodwill offering will be accepted at the door. More information at stambaughauditorium.com.

St. Cathedral of St. Columba: An Advent Procession of Lessons & Carols

St. Columba Cathedral will present the annual Advent Procession of Lessons & Carols on Sunday, November 28, at 6:00 p.m.  The service, based on the ancient "O Antiphons," will led by Bishop David Bonnar and will feature The Cathedral Choir under the direction of Dr. Daniel Laginya.  Free and open to the public.  

YSU Dana School of Music: Dana Chamber Brass Ensembles

The YSU Dana School of Music presents the Dana Chamber Brass Ensembles, directed by Dr. Andrew Mitchell, on Tuesday, November 23, at 7 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church, on Wick Avenue, in Youngstown. The concert is free and open to the public. 

YSU Dana School of Music: Dana Opera Ensemble

The YSU Dana School of Music presents a performance by the Dana Opera Ensemble, on Friday, November 19, at 7:30 pm, in Bliss Hall's Spotlight Theater, on the YSU Campus. Seven Deadly Scenes, and Other Scenes features the students of Opera Ensemble performing specific scenes from various operas exploring the seven deadly sins. More information is available through the Office of Community Engagement and Events at 330-727-7514.

               

 

YSU Theater: Winter Cabaret: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

YSU Theater presents Winter Cabaret: The Most Wonderful Time of the Year, on Friday, December 10th at 6:30 pm, at the B&O Station Banquet Hall, 530 Mahoning Avenue, in Youngstown. Musical Theater students will be featured performing holiday tunes. Tickets are available at ysu.edu/theatertickets.

 

YSU Dana School of Music: Carols and Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert

Join the YSU Dana School of Music for its holiday music extravaganza Carols and Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert, and a cup of hot chocolate, on Wednesday, December 8th, at 7:00 pm, at Stambaugh Auditorium, in Youngstown. Carols & Cocoa and the Dana Holiday Concert features performances by many Dana School of Music ensembles. Tickets available at stambaughauditorium.com. 

Ashtabula Area Orchestra: 27th Annual Holiday Concerts

The Ashtabula Area Orchestra, in residence at the Lakeside Performing Arts Center, presents its 27th annual Holiday Concerts, Saturday, December 4, at 7pm at the Lakeside Performing Arts Center, in Lakeside High School, in Ashtabula; and Sunday, December 5, at 2 pm, at the Jefferson Area High School Auditorium, in Jefferson. These fun and exciting, family-friendly weekend concerts, with guest conductor, Lakeside’s Director of Instrumental Music, David Roth, will feature orchestral Christmas and holiday musical favorites.

Illuminare Choral Ensemble: The Waiting Sky

On Sunday, November 21st at St. Robert Catholic Church in Cortland, Illuminare choral ensemble will be presenting a concert entitled, The Waiting Sky. Illuminare is an ensemble composed of collegiate and professional musicians from the greater Youngstown area who are dedicated to performing sacred choral music. Choral compositions by Sheppard, Tallis, Handel, Duruflé, Harris, Hovhaness, Todd, and others will be sung. A freewill offering will be accepted at the concerts to benefit the ensemble.
