The Canton Symphony Orchestra, presents the world premiere of Daniel Perttu's [PERT-two] "A Planet's Odyssey" on Sunday, May 22 at 7:30 PM at Umstattd (UM-sted) Hall in Canton. In this new piano concerto, Perttu and soloist Jeffrey Biegel will take the audience on a voyage through our solar system in the form of a theme and variations that explores the unique properties and characteristics of each planet. The New Music Guild presents its Festival Gala Concert on Sunday, May 15, at 3 pm, at Saints Peter & Paul Church, Holy Apostles Parish, 421 Covington Street, in Youngstown. The concert will feature works by Erich Wolfgang Korngold, Felix Mendelssohn, Wanda Sobieska, and Robert Rollin. The Festival Chamber Orchestra will perform Sobieska’s transcription of movements from Handel’s Water Music, and premiere Rollin’s Adam’s and Aidan’s Reverie. Also performing is pianist Patrick Wickliffe. Admission is free.
