YSU Hispanic Heritage Month Organizing Committee: Big Read: Luis Alberto Urrea Visit

Lit Youngtown, the YSU Hispanic Heritage Month Organizing Committee, and other organizations are sponsoring a visit by Luis Alberto Urrea, author Into the Beautiful North, this evening at the Main Library, 305 Wick Avenue, in Youngstown.  There is a book signing during the 5:00 hour, with music by the Labra Brothers.  At 6:00, Mr. Urrea will participate in a moderated talk, read excerpts from his book, and answer audience questions. The NEA Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. 

 

YSU Hispanic Heritage Month Organizing Committee; Big Read: Crossings Art Exhibit & Opening

The Opening Reception for the Crossings Art Exhibit, associated with the NEA Big Read event, will take place on Thursday, October 10 from 5 - 7 pm, on the 3rd floor of YSU's Maag Library. YSU art students will have artwork on display at YSU Maag Library October 10-27. 

 

NEA Big Read Kick-off Event: An Evening of Immigrant Narratives

Lit Youngstown presents the NEA Big Read Kick-off Event, An Evening of Immigrant Narratives, a free event on Tuesday, September 17, 5:30 pm, at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown,  on Elm Street, in Youngstown.  This event will center around the Big Read selection Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea. It will include a presentation of the Wick Poetry Center’s Traveling Stanzas, presentations and narratives from recent Youngstown immigrants, followed by a potluck dinner.

The Friends of the Columbiana Public Library are sponsoring a Fall Book Sale at the Fall Book Sale at the Columbiana Public Library, 332 North Middle Street, in Columbiana, on Saturday, September. 28, 9 am - 2:45 pm.
