YSU Department of Theater & Dance: Festival of New Works

YSU Department of Theater & Dance presents the 3rd annual Festival of New Works, on Friday, March 6, and Saturday, March 7, at 7 pm, in Bliss Hall's Spotlight Theater, on the YSU campus. The Festival of New Works features short plays, films, musical theatre & dance choreography, devised work, and puppetry. 

YSU Skeggs Lecture Series: Bryan Terrell Clark

The Skeggs Lecture Series and the YSU Department of Theatre & Dance present a lecture by actor/director Bryan Terrell Clark, on Wednesday, January 29, at 3 pm, in Bliss Hall's Ford Theater, on the YSU campus. [Clark is a singer-songwriter, known for his starring role as George Washington in Hamilton.] 

YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium: Undiscovered Worlds

The YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium presents the program Undiscovered Worlds, throughout November.  With new achievements like the Kepler Telescope and rapidly improving technology, the discovery of exoplanets puts us one step closer to the possibility of finding an Earth-like world. YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium: One World, One Sky

The YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium presents the program Undiscovered Worlds, Saturday at 1 pm through November 16.  Big Bird’s Adventure begins on Sesame Street when Elmo’s friend Hu Hu Zhu visits from China. Big Bird, Elmo, and Hu Hu Zhu take viewers on an exciting discovery of the Sun, Moon, and stars. Celebrate with Elmo and Hu Hu Zhu the idea that even though we live in different countries, we still share the same sky.  More information and program times at wbplanetarium.org.    

Ward Beecher Planetarium: Night-Lite

The Ward Beecher Planetarium presents the program Night-Lite, its popular light and music Halloween extravaganza presented in a fun, non-scary style, making this show ideal for all ages. YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium: Nightlights

The YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium’s spooky annual Halloween spectacular Nightlights has been going strong since 1974! Great for all ages, although younger visitors might be scared of the loud music and dark.  Seating is first-come, first seated.  The schedule is available at wbplanetarium.org.

Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County: Movie Night: Big Read Film Series

As part of the NEA Big Read project, the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County presents a Movie Night viewing of a documentary illuminating the history of Latinos on the Big Screen, on Thursday, October 17, at 6 pm, at the Main Library, on Wick Avenue, in Youngstown. YSU Film Scholar Dr. Laura Beadling will introduce and discuss the film afterward.  

Ashtabula County District Library Suicide: The Ripple Effect film screening

The Ashtabula County District Library will present a free screening of the film Suicide: The Ripple Effect, to be followed by a panel discussion, on Monday, October 14, at 5:30 pm, at the Henderson Memorial Public Library, 54 East Jefferson Street, in Jefferson.
