YSU's Cliffe College of Creative Arts presents the 24th annual Summer Festival of the Arts on July 9th and 10th at Wean Park in downtown Youngstown, near the Covelli Centre. Saturday hours are 10 to 6, and Sunday hours are 11 to 5. The Festival features an artists' marketplace, family activities, music, cultural groups, and theater and dance performances. Stambaugh Auditorium Association: Giselle

The Stambaugh Auditorium Association presents Adolph (uh DOLF) Adam's ((uh DAHM) classic ballet Giselle (jah-ZELL), at the DeYor Performing Arts Center, in downtown Youngstown, on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 PM. This ballet is a co-production of Ballet Western Reserve, the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, DeYor, and Stambaugh. DeYor Performing Arts Center: Cirque International

The DeYor Performing Arts Center Presents Cirque International, on Thursday, February 10 at 7:30 pm, in the Edward W. Ballet Western Reserve: The Nutcracker at DeYor Performing Arts Center

Ballet Western Reserve presents The Nutcracker in the Edward W. Powers Auditorium at the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown, on Saturday, December 4th at 7:00 PM; and on Sunday, December 5th at 2:30 PM.  This reimagined telling of the E.T.A. Hoffman tale, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, shares the story of young Clara and her mysterious grandfatner, Drosselmeyer. Featured will be Ballet Western Reserve alumnus Austin Dabney, formerly of The Boston Ballet and Ballet West.  Tickets are available online at

The Cultural Alliance: Press Conference

The Cultural Alliance is announcing a new collaborative initiative aimed at advancing arts and culture in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, on Friday, July 16 at 1 pm, in the Covelli Center, in downtown Youngstown. The Cultural Alliance consists of Leaders of the most influential arts and cultural organizations across the Mahoning and Shenango valleys. [The announcement is being made as dozens of artists from across the nation set up for the annual YSU Summer Festival of the Arts, which is this weekend at its new location in Wean Park in downtown Youngstown.]  

YSU Summer Festival of the Arts: Volunteers

Organizers for the 23rd annual YSU Summer Festival of the Arts, scheduled for July 17 and 18 at its new location at Wean Park, are seeking volunteers for the event.  Volunteers are needed for artist registration; information booths; in the children's hands-on art tent; and for technical assistance at performance sites, among other areas. Jordan School of Ballet: Springtime in Paris

Jordan School of Ballet presents “Springtime in Paris“ at the Robins Theatre Sunday, May 30 with showings at 1:30 and 6 pm. The show opens with a jazzy ballet about Paris, then the company will dance the classical ballet, Les Sylphides, to the music of Chopin. The program will conclude with the ballet Coppelia, a colorful, comedic ballet about a toy maker and his doll. Tickets may be purchased at the door.

YSU University Theatre Dance Ensemble

YSU Department of Theatre and Dance: Elegies: A Song Cycle by William Finn

YSU University Theatre, presenting 'Elegies [el-uh-GEES]: A Song Cycle' by William Finn. The sequence of songs in 'Elegies' addresses memory, loss, and life’s fragility and joy. YSU students will be joined by guest performers Maureen Collins and James McClellan.  Performances will be streamed this coming weekend, with tickets available by searching Youngstown State University at 'Show T I X 4 U dot com'.
