The Glass Menagerie is the story of a family desperate to break free of the burdens of their past and their present. This semi-autobiographical account of Tennessee Williams’ early days in 1930s St. Louis is a heartbreaking yet often funny "memory play" told from the perspective of Tom Wingfield. Tom's mother, Amanda has been abandoned by her husband, and now lives only for her children; his unmarried sister, Laura, is a fragile and painfully shy creature who retreats into a world of glass animals; and Tom himself is torn between his poetic inclinations and the responsibility of supporting his mother and sister. Each escapes into their own personal "glass menagerie" as a means of eluding the pain of their own - and each other's - existence.

"In these days of Covid, the creative team and I are breaking new ground to deliver a high quality theatre experience using streaming technology,” said Mazuroski, “By adapting this traditional theatre experience into a more filmic experience, we are recording the work of the actors, designers, and crew that allows us to continue our educational mission in a robust and rewarding way--one I strongly believe that our audiences will thoroughly enjoy!"

The cast includes Nate Montgomery (Columbiana, OH) senior, BFA in Theatre; Elise Vargo (Westerville, OH) sophomore, BFA in Theatre/Musical Theatre; and Mitchell Sharp (Beloit, OH) sophomore, BFA in Theatre.

In addition, guest artist Molly Galano, veteran regional community theatre actor, will perform the role of Amanda Wingfield. Galano came to Ohio from Jackson, Wyoming in 1999. Since then, she has performed at the Youngstown Playhouse, the New Castle Playhouse, The Oakland Center for the Arts, The Rust Belt Theater, and other venues. She has performed in two other University Theatre productions--The Spitfire Grill (2014) and Vanya, Sonia, Masha, and Spike (2016). “It is a great honor to be a part of The Glass Menagerie, under the direction of Matthew Mazuroski, and alongside such talented actors,” said Galano.

In addition to the Director, technical staff includes Scenic Designer, Todd Dicken; Production Manager and Technical Director, Ryan Fitzpatrick; Sound Designer, Johnny Pecano; Sound Mixer, Thomas DeLuca; Sound Engineer, Ryan Donchess; Costume, Wig and Makeup Designer, Katherine N.
