The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra presents An Evening of the Romantics, on Sunday, January 16, at 4 pm, at Powers Auditorium, in downtown Youngstown. Led by principal guest conductor Miriam Burns, the orchestra will perform works by Bartok, Brahms, and Beethoven, and will feature violinist Stephen Tavani. On Sunday, January 16, 2022, at 4:00 PM, Principal Guest Conductor, Miriam Burns, will lead the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra in presenting An Evening of the Romantics with special guest violinist Stephen Tavani. This classical concert will be held in Powers Auditorium at DeYor Performing Arts Center and will feature pieces by Bartok, Brahms, and Beethoven. Stephen Tavani grew up in Northern Virginia in a musical family of six brothers, including two cellists, another violinist, and a pianist. He has appeared at music festivals and chamber music series, including the Marlboro Music Festival, Dresden Music Festival, and Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. He has taught masterclasses at the Cleveland Institute of Music, as well as at conservatories in Spain and Germany. In 2018, Tavani joined The Cleveland Orchestra as Assistant Concertmaster. Returning to Powers Auditorium is award-winning conductor and Principal Guest Conductor, Miriam Burns. “I am excited to be coming full circle back to my home state and getting the people of Youngstown excited about their orchestra again and bringing music to the community,” said Burns, in an interview on The 1926 Podcast. Ms. Burns is currently serving as Artistic Director and Conductor of the Paragon Philharmonia in Northern Virginia, Visiting Professor and Director of Orchestras at The Ohio State University and continues as Music Director of The Orchestra of the Redeemer in New York City where she resides.
