The Friends of the Mahoning River: Mahoning River Cleanup

Event Description: 

The Friends of the Mahoning River and Tri County CleanWays are teaming up again this year to remove tires and other trash from the Mahoning River in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. The cleanup event will take place on Saturday, July 17th from 9 AM to about 1 PM. More information on the Facebook pages of Friends of the Mahoning River and Tri-County CleanWays. 

[Last year’s cleanup removed over 100 tires and pick up loads of trash from the Mahoning River and its streambanks.]

Volunteers with kayaks, canoes and small boats or rafts will meet at the Beyond Corporation LLC Boat Access Area at Hillsville Road between 8:30 and 9:00 AM to register and unload gear. Cleanup activities will stretch along the Mahoning River from the launch in Hillsville, to the takeout point at the McKinney Russell Boat Access Area on Covert Road in Edinburg.

Please remember to bring a personal flotation device for each person. Gloves, bags and lunch will be provided by FOMR and TCC.
