Event Description:

This training will empower individuals to use nonviolent principles to diffuse tense situations. Bystander intervention is a practice that is rooted in nonviolence, and encourages people witnessing harassment to take action safely and swiftly. This training will help participants understand identity-based violence (i.e. Islamophobia, racism, and gender-based harassment); take ownership and responsibility when a situation arises; learn skills to safely diffuse a tense situation; support victims of harassment, abuse, and violence; and be an active participant in reducing violence in our community.
