YSU University Theatre: The Music Man

YSU's University Theater presents a production of The Music Man, for one weekend only at Ford Theater in Bliss Hall.  The show will run from February 25th to the 27th, at 7:30 on Friday and Saturday and at 2:00 on Sunday.  Tickets and more information are available online at ysu.tix.com.

YSU Theatre: Little Shop of Horrors

YSU Theatre presents Little Shop of Horrors, in Bliss Hall's Ford Theater, on the YSU campus, this final weekend.  The production is directed by guest director Ian Silverman and will feature live music by the Musical Theatre Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Kent Engelhardt.  Friday and Saturday performances are at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday matinee is at 2 pm.   More information at 330-941-3105; tickets at ysu.tix.com.

YSU University Theatre: Almost Maine

University Theatre announces its upcoming 2021-2022 season, which opens in Spotlight Theater on Friday, September 24, with the romantic comedy Almost, Maine by John Cariani.  The show runs two weekends September 24, 25 and October 1, 2 at 7:30 p.m. and Sundays, September 26 and October 3 at 2:00 p.m.  Tickets are $16, $8 and free for YSU students and available at ysu.tix.com

Ballet Western Reserve: The Nutcracker at DeYor Performing Arts Center

Ballet Western Reserve presents The Nutcracker in the Edward W. Powers Auditorium at the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown, on Saturday, December 4th at 7:00 PM; and on Sunday, December 5th at 2:30 PM.  This reimagined telling of the E.T.A. Hoffman tale, The Nutcracker and the Mouse King, shares the story of young Clara and her mysterious grandfatner, Drosselmeyer. Featured will be Ballet Western Reserve alumnus Austin Dabney, formerly of The Boston Ballet and Ballet West.  Tickets are available online at deyorpac.org.

The Cultural Alliance: Press Conference

The Cultural Alliance is announcing a new collaborative initiative aimed at advancing arts and culture in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, on Friday, July 16 at 1 pm, in the Covelli Center, in downtown Youngstown. The Cultural Alliance consists of Leaders of the most influential arts and cultural organizations across the Mahoning and Shenango valleys. [The announcement is being made as dozens of artists from across the nation set up for the annual YSU Summer Festival of the Arts, which is this weekend at its new location in Wean Park in downtown Youngstown.]  

Opera Western Reserve: Three Pigs and a Blanket & The Big Baaad Cabaret

Opera Western Reserve is presenting back-to-back live events at the DeYor Performing Arts Center on Friday, June 11.  At 4:30 pm and 6 pm are two free performances of the children's opera  The Three Little Pigs, in the outdoor courtyard at DeYor Performing Arts Center.  That will be followed by The Big, Baaad Cabaret, at 8 pm, featuring soprano Randa Rouweyha and tenor Jesus Daniel singing duets ranging from opera arias to Broadway favorites.  Ticket information is available at operawesternreserve.org.
