The YSU Department of Theater & Dance presents A Kiss to Build a Dream On: A Valentine’s Day Cabaret, on Friday, February 14, 6 - 9 pm, at the B&O Station Banquet Hall,, in downtown Youngstown.  The Cabaret features jazz favorites drawn from the American Song Book, highlighting tunes and voices from YSU’s Musical Theatre program. Tickets available only at ysu.edu/springcabaret. [Dinner reservations must be received by Thursday, February 6]

YSU Skeggs Lecture Series: Bryan Terrell Clark

The Skeggs Lecture Series and the YSU Department of Theatre & Dance present a lecture by actor/director Bryan Terrell Clark, on Wednesday, January 29, at 3 pm, in Bliss Hall's Ford Theater, on the YSU campus. [Clark is a singer-songwriter, known for his starring role as George Washington in Hamilton.] 

Stage Left Players: It's Christmas, Carol!

The Stage Left Players present their original holiday musical, It’s Christmas, Carol!, a modern twist of Charles Dicken’s classic, at the historic Trinity Playhouse in downtown Lisbon, weekends, December 6th through the 15th.  Tickets can be purchased at the door or reserved online at StageLeftPlayers.org.

Top Hat Productions: Sister Act

 Top Hat Productions presents Sister Act, a musical comedy adapted from the 1992 movie of the same name. Sister Act will be presented at 7:30 pm on Fridays, October 25th, November 1st, and November 8th, and Saturdays, October 26th, November 2nd, and November 9th at The Fairview Arts & Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, Youngstown. Dragonhold Fantasy Festival: The Goblin King's Ball

The historic Beehive Coke Ovens Park in Leetonia will be transformed into a fantasy land filled with adventure and fun for all ages, on October 12, noon - 8: pm. This year's theme is The Goblin King's Ball, featuring goblins, orcs, and other fantasy creatures that will cause mayhem throughout the day! There will be a Masquerade Ball at 6 pm. YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium: Wizard Weekend

In collaboration with YSU's Room of Requirement, the YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium presents a magical weekend celebrating all things Harry Potter and in the J.K. Rowling universe! Learn about the night sky and how it relates to the wizarding world. Test your knowledge for a chance to earn house points. Who will win this year’s house cup?  Programs this evening at 7 and 8:30, tomorrow at noon, 2:30, 7 & 8:30. Seating is first-come, first seated.

Opera Western Reserve & the Soap Gallery: Witches Brew

Opera Western Reserve presents Witches Brew, on Friday, October 25, 6 - 10 pm, at the SOAP Gallery, in downtown Youngstown.  It will be an evening of musical selections highlighting Verdi's opera Macbeth, readings from Shakespeare, heavy appetizers, and cash bar. Tickets are $30 in advance, $35 at the door and can be purchased through the Opera Western Reserve office at330.480.0693 or at the SOAP Gallery online. Witches Brew is a part of the Murder, Mayhem & Macbeth Fest.

 

 

Warren Philharmonic and Opera Western Reserve: Magic Spells!

The Warren Philharmonic Orchestra presents the concert "Magic Spells!, on Sunday, October 6, at 3 pm, at the First Presbyterian Church, 256 Mahoning Avenue NW, in Warren.   The concert features a magic spell gone awry, a tale from Arabian Nights, singing witches, and more.  This event is a part of Opera Western Reserve's Murder, Mayhem & Macbeth fest.

YSU Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts Series: National Marionette Theatre’s performance of Pinocchio

The YSU Donald P. Pipino Performing Arts Series presents the National Marionette Theatre’s performance of Pinocchio, on Saturday, October 12, at 11 am and 2 pm, in Ford Theater in Bliss Hall, on the YSU campus. Founded in 1967, the National Marionette Theatre is one of the oldest continually running marionette theatres in the United States. Tickets available at ysu.tix.com or 330-941-3105.

 

YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium: Celestial Mythology

The YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium presents Mesoamerica Celestial Mythology, on Saturday, September 21, 3:30 pm, at the YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium, on the YSU campus.  In this live presentation of the night sky, we will journey through the stars and explore the different ways they take shape across cultures and time, focusing on Mesoamerican lore.More information from the YSU Department of Physics & Astronomy at 330-941-3616.
