Mahoning Valley Historical Society: Hands-On-History Open House

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society is hosting Hands-On-History Open House, free afternoons of family fun! Join education staff on Wednesdays from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for hands-on activities, games, crafts, dress-up clothing and more!  Each week will feature a different theme with various activities. Locations will vary between the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center and the Arms Family Museum of Local History. More information at mahoninghistory.org.

 

 

 

 

McDonough Museum of Art: UCDA Design Education Summit and Exhibition: Good Design Works City of You & So Much More Than Home!

The John J McDonough Museum of Art, YSU’s Center for Contemporary Art, will feature the UCDA Design Education Summit and Exhibition: Good Design Works, Monday, May 21 - Sunday, July 8. Over the course of the summit, the McDonough will host the keynote presentations, the UCDA Poster Exhibition, City of You: So Much More Than Home! Exhibition, and more. [There is a free public opening reception on Monday, May 21 from 5-7 pm.]

 

YSU Melnick Medical Museum : And There's the Humor of it: Shakespeare and the Four Humors

Th YSU Melnick Medical Museum presents the exhibit And There's the Humor of it: Shakespeare and the Four Humors, a traveling banner exhibit from the National Library of Medicine. On display in the Reference Room on the main floor of Maag Library, on the YSU campus, from Wednesday, April 25 through Friday, May 18, six banners examine the role of the four humors in HamletThe Merchant of Venice, and The Taming of the Shrew.  [The four humors: Melancholic, Phlegmatic, Choleric, Sanguine.]

YSU Department of Art: 82nd Annual Juried Student Art and Design Exhibition

The YSU Department of Art presents the 82nd Annual Juried Student Art & Design Exhibition, at the John J McDonough Museum of Art. This exhibition features works by students enrolled in the Department of Art at YSU. It opens on Friday, March 23rd and continues through Friday, April 6th.  Artists will be honored at a reception and awards ceremony on Friday, March 23 from 5 - 7 pm.

 

Lit Youngstown: Words Made Visible Event

Lit Youngstown presents Words Made Visible, a month long exhibit featuring YSU-artist and Ohio-writer collaborations. The free reception will be Saturday February 3, from 2:00 to 5:00, with literary readings at 3:00, at The Soap Gallery, on S. Champion St. in downtown Youngstown.
