YSU McDonough Museum of Art: New Immigrant and Refugee Visions, Short Films

The YSU John J. McDonough Museum of Art presents screenings of New Immigrant and Refugee Visions, a collection of short documentary films made by new immigrants that provide a unique insider perspective on the immigration challenges faced by immigrants and the contributions they make to our culture.  Screenings are through Friday, October 26.  Sreening times and more information at mcdonoughmuseum.ysu.edu.

McDonough Museum of Art presents a Gallery Talk for Resort, a traveling exhibition of works by Susanne Slavick and Andrew Ellis Johnson that offer a compelling exploration of the barriers to asylum in the ongoing global refugee crisis. The talk takes place on Friday, September 7 at 5 pm, to be followed by a reception. The show will be on view in the galleries Friday, September 7 – Friday, October 26.]

The reception takes place on Friday, September 7 from 5 - 7pm.

Mahoning Valley Historical Society: Bites and Bits of History: Road to Rust, the Disintegration of the Steel Industry

Mahoning Valley Historical Society: Arms Family Museum - From Homefront to Western Front

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society presents the exhibit From Homefront to Western Front: Life During WWI, at the Arms Family Museum, on Wick Avenue, in Youngstown.  This exhibit features civilian and military clothing, as well as a vignette on Base Hospital 31, formed by the Youngstown Hospital Association in 1917. On display through Sunday, January 6.    

Mahoning Valley Historical Society: Tyler History Center -Jim Pernotto: I’m Still Learning

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society presents Jim Pernotto: I’m Still Learning, an exhibition of works by Youngstown artist Jim Pernotto, on exhibit through Sunday, July 29, at the Tyler History Center, in downtown Youngstown.  The exhibition is a selection of works created by the artist over the past 50 years.  More information at mahoninghistory.org.

Mahoning Valley Historical Society: Young Historians Summer Day Camp

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society presents the Young Historians Summer Day Camp, for ages 12 - 15, Monday, July 30 - Friday, August 3, 10:00 am - 4:00 pm each day. Participants will explore the MVHS archival collections, and they will work closely together to create videos, blog posts, or small exhibits.
