Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens: Summer Garden Party

Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens will hold their Summer Garden Party, Welcome Back to the Gardens on Friday, July 30 from 6 to 10 pm, at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Youngstown. The Cultural Alliance: Press Conference

The Cultural Alliance is announcing a new collaborative initiative aimed at advancing arts and culture in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania, on Friday, July 16 at 1 pm, in the Covelli Center, in downtown Youngstown. The Cultural Alliance consists of Leaders of the most influential arts and cultural organizations across the Mahoning and Shenango valleys. [The announcement is being made as dozens of artists from across the nation set up for the annual YSU Summer Festival of the Arts, which is this weekend at its new location in Wean Park in downtown Youngstown.]  

The Friends of the Mahoning River: Mahoning River Cleanup

The Friends of the Mahoning River and Tri County CleanWays are teaming up again this year to remove tires and other trash from the Mahoning River in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania. The cleanup event will take place on Saturday, July 17th from 9 AM to about 1 PM. More information on the Facebook pages of Friends of the Mahoning River and Tri-County CleanWays. 

[Last year’s cleanup removed over 100 tires and pick up loads of trash from the Mahoning River and its streambanks.]

YWCA Mahoning Valley: Women Artists: A Celebration!

YWCA Mahoning Valley presents the 39th annual art show, Women Artists:  A Celebration!  The art show is free and open for public viewing Wednesday to Sunday, 12 to 4 pm, through July 23.

The Agent's Flag Exchange

Flag Day is June 14th and we want to honor our flag, those who have served, and our country by doing a flag exchange event. Bring us your old American flag, and we'll give you a new one -free of charge! Here’s how it works: 1. Stop by our office June 14th – 18th between 9am and 5pm. 2. Bring us your old, tattered flag and we will give you a new replacement. Your old flag will be properly retired. 3. Don’t have a flag? We will give you one to display.

YSU Cliffe College of Creative Arts: The 23rd Annual Summer Festival of the Arts

Youngstown State University's 23rd Annual Summer Festival of the Arts will be held at the new Wean Foundation Park in downtown Youngstown on July 17th and 18th. The Summer Festival of the Arts, open to the public, was started in 1999 and attracts more than 70 artists and 15,000 visitors annually. YSU Summer Festival of the Arts: Volunteers

Organizers for the 23rd annual YSU Summer Festival of the Arts, scheduled for July 17 and 18 at its new location at Wean Park, are seeking volunteers for the event.  Volunteers are needed for artist registration; information booths; in the children's hands-on art tent; and for technical assistance at performance sites, among other areas. Various shifts are available for the two-day event. More information is available from the YSU Office of Community Engagement and Events at 330-727-7514.

 

Ursuline Education & Wellness Center: Guided Labyrinth Walk

 The Ursuline Education & Wellness Center, 4280 Shields Road, is resuming its monthly Guided Labyrinth Walks after a hiatus last year because of the pandemic.  Each walk will be led by a different facilitator. Walks generally take 20 minutes to ½ hour.  The schedule and other information is available from the Ursuline Education & Wellness Center at 330-799-4941 or theursulinecenter.org.

Jordan School of Ballet: Springtime in Paris

Jordan School of Ballet presents “Springtime in Paris“ at the Robins Theatre Sunday, May 30 with showings at 1:30 and 6 pm. The show opens with a jazzy ballet about Paris, then the company will dance the classical ballet, Les Sylphides, to the music of Chopin. The program will conclude with the ballet Coppelia, a colorful, comedic ballet about a toy maker and his doll. Tickets may be purchased at the door.
