YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium: Mayan Archaeoastronomy: Observers of the Universe

The Ward Beecher Planetarium at YSU presents “Mayan Archaeoastronomy: Observers of the Universe,” a unique planetarium show describing the way Mayans viewed and understood the universe includes a tour of six Mayan temples and the orientation of the temples in relation to the movements of the sun, moon and Venus. YSU Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee: Bilingual Storytime

The YSU Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee presents ¡Celebramos Hispanic Heritage Month! At the Public Library of Youngstown & Mahoning County, 305 Wick Avenue, in Youngstown. Books, songs, rhymes and other fun learning activities in both English and Spanish for children ages 3 to 5 years and caregivers. Common Ground Church Community: Coat, Clothing, (& More!) Giveaway

Common Ground Church Community, on South Range Road, in North Lima, is sponsoring its annual giveaway of clothes, coats, and much more, inside the warehouse above the church. For everyone's safety, state and local Covid 19 guidelines will be followed.  

Oh Wow!: Eleventh Annual Silly Science Sunday

Oh Wow!: The Roger and Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science and Technology will host the 11th-Annual Silly Science Sunday, 11 am - 4 pm, on September 19.  This annual event spills out onto the streets of downtown Youngstown to offer more hands-on, interactive STREAM  displays, exhibits, and EDUtaining shows!

LitYoungstown: Poet Teri Ellen Cross Davis and Novelist Bonnie Proudfoot

WYSU is co-sponsor a reading by poet Teri Ellen Cross Davis and novelist Bonnie Proudfoot, Friday, October 8 at 7:00 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, on Wick Avenue in Youngstown. The reading, free and open to the public, is part of Lit Youngstown’s Fall Literary Festival. More information at LitYoungstown.org.

2021 Youngstown Peace Race

The 2021 Youngstown Peace Race is coming up on Sunday, October 17th. The 400-Meter Kids Fun Run for ages 10 & under begins at 9 am, and the 2-Mile Run/Walk begins at 9:30 am. Both begin and end on the square in downtown Youngstown. The featured 10k Race winding through scenic Mill Creek Park begins at 10:00 am, with bus transportation to the starting line provided in downtown Youngstown. Race and registration information available at ytownpeacerace.org. 

The Ursuline Sisters of Youngstown: Guided Labyrinth Walk

The Ursuline Education & Wellness Center offers its next guided walk of of the 2021 season Thursday, September 16, at 6:30 p.m. For each walk, participants will meditate on a theme regarding respect. Labyrinth walks are free and open to all people of faith. Walks take about 1/2 hour. Invite your friends and family to this unique experience!
