Night of Music Celebration at Elizabeth Baptist Church

The Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance of Youngstown & Vicinity will host its third annual Night of Music Celebration at Elizabeth Baptist Church, at 1210 Himrod Avenue, on Friday, November 21st at 6:30 pm.  Area law enforcement agencies and first responders have been invited to attend the event to be recognized for their commitment to public service.  The event is free and open to the public. 

Villa Maria Nativity Display

The Villa Maria Nativity Display is an annual indoor Advent tradition featuring hundreds of nativity sets from around the world, with entertainment from musicians, choirs, a bell choir & more.  It is open December 6 and 7, & 13 and 14, noon - 5:00 pm at the Villa Maria Community Center, in Villa Maria, Pa.  The Villa Farm will be open then, as well. Salem Community Theatre: A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum

Salem Community Theater presents the classic musical-comedy A Funny Thing Happened On the Way to the Forum, with music and lyrics by Steven Sondheim, this final weekend.  Evening performances are at 8:00, the Sunday matinees begin at 2:00.  Reservations and more information are available from the Theater box office at 330-332-9688.

George Bernard Shaw’s Don Juan in Hell

Youngstown State University’s McDonough Museum of Art will host two 40-minute dramatic readings of George Bernard Shaw’s Don Juan in Hell (from ‘Man and Superman’) at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 10 and Saturday, October 11, in its 50-seat auditorium. This event is free and open to the public. Dramatic readers will be David Vosburgh, Dr. George McCloud, Matthew Mazuroski, and Elsa Higby. 

Lupus Support Group

The Trumbull/Mahoning County Lupus Support Group meets the 2nd Tuesday of every month at Trumbull Memorial Hospital Conference Room B.  This month it is Tuesday, October 14 at 7:00 pm.  The event is free and open to all.

Pumpkin Carve-out Contest RUNS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10TH, 6:00 TO 9:00 PM; SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11TH, NOON TO 9:00 PM AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12TH, NOON TO 5:00 PM.    There is a small fee for the pumpkins. prizes will be awarded in different age categories from children to adults.

Talk: Climate as the Great Reckoning

The First Unitarian Universalist Church on Elm Street in Youngstown, presents a talk on Monday, October 6, at 7:00 pm, by Rev. Michael Dowd on “The Future Is Calling Us to Greatness: Climate as the Great Reckoning.“ Dowd is the author of "Thank God for Evolution", focusing on the possibility of reconciling science and religion. 

Dana School of Music Fall Choral Concert

The YSU Dana School of Music presents the Fall Choral Concert, by the The Dana Chorale, University Chorus, and Women’s Chorus, on Monday, October 20, at7:30 pm, at St. Columba Cathedral on wood Street in Youngstown.  The concert is titled Sing on Justice, Truth, Love, and Peace!, featuring Mozart’s Miss brevis in D Major, selections from Handel’s Messiah and many more masterpieces. The concert is free and open to the public.

 

 

Barktoberfest
