The Stage Left Players present Almost, Maine , a romantic comedy by David Cariani on Friday and Saturday, November 21, and 22 at 7 PM and Sunday, November 23, at 2 pm at the Historic Trinity Playhouse located on Lincoln Way in downtown Lisbon. The play is set in the mythical town of Almost, Maine whose residents find themselves falling in and out love in unexpected and often hilarious ways on a single clear, moonless night in the middle of winter. The Mahoning Valley Historical Society welcomes Charles Darling to the Tyler Mahoning Valley History Center for a free lecture entitled The Civil War in Song, on Tuesday, October 28, at 7:00 pm. Darling is an Emeritus Professor of History at YSU. He is the author of two books on folk music, including Messages of Dissent, Struggle Songs in American history which highlights some Civil War era music. Darling has been a member of the Youngstown Torch Club since 1970s, and he hosts Folk Festival on WYSU.
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s History to Go program for October will be guided walking tours of Oak Hill Cemetery. The free event will be on Saturday, October 25th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A welcome table will be located at the entrance to Oak Hill Cemetery at 344 Oak Hill Avenue. Tour guides will lead visitors to several locations in the cemetery, providing history and historic images.
