Guest artist recital-Dr. Sean Schulze

The Dana School of Music presents a guest artist recital featuring pianist Dr. Sean Schulze, on Thursday, September 11, at 7:30 in Bliss Recital Hall. Dr. Schulze is on the piano faculty of the Cleveland Institute of Music. The program is titled An Evening with Claude Debussy.  The recital is free and open to the public.

 

Birth Outcomes and Maternal Residential Proximity to Natural Gas Development in Rural Colorado

Dr. Lisa McKenzie, Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Environmental & Occupational Health, Colorado School of Public Health at the University of Colorado in Denver, will give a lecture on Birth Outcomes and Maternal Residential Proximity to Natural Gas Development in Rural Colorado, on Wednesday, September 24 at 7:00 pm in room 2000 of Moser Hall on the YSU campus.  More information available at 330-941-1753 and www.ysunews.com/10836/.

 

 

 

Butler Art Museum: Whister Film

Western Reserve PBS and The Butler Institute of American Art will present a preview of a new documentary by award-winning filmmaker Karen Thomas titled James McNeill Whistler and the Case for Beauty on Sunday, Sept. 7, at 2 pm in the Youngstown Butler’s Beecher Center Auditorium. The film examines the life of the art star, dandy and radical artistic visionary. Whistler introduced ideas and forms that were avant-garde for their time and paved the way for today’s notion of modern art. This program is free and open to the public.

Warren Toastmasters Meeting

Steel Company Reunions and Family Days

The Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor, on Wood St. in Youngstown announces the Second Annual Steel Company Reunions and Family Day events in late September and early October.  This year's programs each will include; a hands on activity for children, a vintage steel industry video, a brief presentation on each of the steel companies, and a former steel company employees reunion.  These events are free and open to the public.   A reduced admission to the museum will be available for all attendees.

The Lettermen - Holiday Show Tour

The male pop music vocal trio The Lettermen will sing Christmas classics as well as their classic hits on Sunday, November 30 at 7:00 pm in Stambaugh Auditorium. Some of their hits are Goin’ Out of My Head, Theme From a Summer Place, and Can’t Take My Eyes Off You. Ticket information is available at stambaughauditorium.com.

Bands at the Baugh

The final concert in the summer long series in the Garden at Stambaugh Auditorium --  Bands at the Baugh -- takes place on Monday, September 18, at 6:00 pm.  The concert features Cloud 9, Co-ed singing duo performing classic hits. features local musicians and local fare from Kravitz Delicatessen. Color vs Cancer 5K Color Run/Walk

The Yellow Brick Place Color vs Cancer 5K Color Run/Walk takes place at Austintown Township Park, on Sunday, September 12, with registration beginning at 7:30 am, and the race at 10:00.  This Color Run is an untimed event that emphasizes fun over competition. Runners begin dressed in clean white t-shirts and pass through a dyed cornstarch color station every kilometer.  Registration information is available at www.yellowbrickplace.org.

Skeggs Lecture Series presents Blake Mycoskie, Founder of TOMS Shoes and New York Time Best-Selling Author

Blake Mycoskie, Founder of TOMS and a New York Times Best-Selling Author (Start Something That Matters), will speak as part of the Skeggs Lecture Series on Tuesday, October 7 at 7:00 pm at Stambaugh Auditorium in Youngstown.  The lecture is free and open to the public but tickets are mandatory and can be picked up at the Stambaugh Box Office weekdays between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm.
