Does Race Matter?

The Union Baptist Church and the Mahoning Valley Organizing Collaborative are sponsoring Does Race Matter?, at Union Baptist Church, 528 Lincoln Avenue, in Youngstown,on Monday, December 22 at 6:30 pm.  Does Race Matter? is an interactive discussion that will constructively address barriers between our communities.  The meeting will feature a panel of representatives from across the Mahoning Valley, who will discuss race relations in our community.  More information is available at www.mvorganizing.org.

Poland Rotary: Night at the Races

The Poland Rotary will be hosting its annual Night at the Races to benefit local community projects and events, on Friday, January 29th, at 6:00 pm, at the Holy Family Parish Center, 2729 Center Road, in Poland. There will be 10 horse races, a DJ, food, drinks, Block Pool, and more. Online registration is available at polandrotaryracenight.eventbrite.com.

Mahoning Valley Chorale Holiday Concert

The Mahoning Valley Chorale, under the direction of Kris Harper, will present their annual holiday program Home For the Holidays, on Sunday, December 21st at 3:00 pm at Disciples Christian Church, 565 Boardman-Canfield Road, in Boardman.  The concert will feature many holiday favorites, plus a visit by Santa Claus. 

Health Insurance Marketplace Information Session

The YWCA, on Rayen Avenue in Youngstown presents an information session on the Health Insurance Marketplace, as well as the opportunity to enroll in a health care plan, on Saturday, December 13, 9:30 am - 2:00 pm.  Healthcare Navigators will be available to help.  Individuals wishing to enroll in a plan must bring proof of income and identification.  More information is available at 330-746-6361, ext. 125.

 

 

Patricia Sweeney, Health Commissioner of the Mahoning County District Board of Health

The Downtown Wellness Community presents a talk by Patricia Sweeney, Health Commissioner of the Mahoning County District Board of Health, on Wednesday, December 10, 5:30 to 6:30 pm, at the Youngstown Business Incubator, 241 W Federal Street in Youngstown. The event is free and open to the public.    

Trumbull County Animal Welfare League Holiday Extravagaza

Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival

St. John's Episcopal Church, on Wick Avenue in Youngstown, celebrates the 56th annual Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival on Sunday, January 8, with performances at 1:30 and 4:00 pm. Ticket and parking information are available at 330-743-3175. The festival is one of the longest running such festivals in the country. It features the Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival Choir; brass, bagpipers, drummers, and a cast of approximately 100 St. John’s parishioners dressed in medieval costume.

Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman's Mill

Mill Creek MetroParks presents its annual Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman's Mill on Saturday, November 29th from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Lanterman’s Mill will be festively decorated for the event.  There will be fine entertainment, chestnuts roasted over an open fire, Santa Claus, and artisans demonstrate crafts at this popular community event.. 

Holiday Open House at the Barnhisel House in Girard

Walk back in history at  A Sew-Sew Historical Christmas  at the Barnhisel House at 101 N. State St. in Girard. The Open Houses will include displays of quilts, organ music , refreshments and guided tours conducted by costumed docents.
