YWCA Dance-a-thon

The YWCA in Youngstown is holding it's first Dance-a-thon on Saturday, March 7, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Themed music, performances, prizes, goodie bags, and refreshments will be provided.  Team captains must be at least 18 years old and participants must be at least 8 years old. Lecture on MS and Emotions

Psychologist Dr. Amy Sullivan, Director of Behavioral Medicine at the Mellen Center for MS, is presenting a free program about MS and Emotions, on Saturday, February 21, from 9:30 am- 12:00 pm, at the Packard Car Museum in Warren. Registration information can be found at nationalmssociety.org.

MS and Muscle Stiffness

Dr. Jacqueline Nicholas, specialist at The Ohio Health Neuroscience Institute and Multiple Sclerosis Center in Columbus, is presenting a free program about MS and Muscle Stiffness, on Thursday, February 26, from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm, at the DoubleTree in Newark, Ohio. Mahoning Valley Chorale Concert

 The Mahoning Valley Chorale, under the direction of Kris Harper, will present a concert of gospel music on Sunday, February 1 at 1:30 pm at St. Patrick Church, 1420 Oak Hill Ave, Youngstown, as part of the church's 'Sunday, Sauce and Song Concert Series."  Songs include Southern gospel, gospel and African American Spirituals.  The concert is open to the public.  

 

Legislative Interviews 2015

The League of Women Voters of MercerCounty will be asking questions of local legislators on Friday, January 30 at noon during an open meeting at the Community Library of the Shenango Valley in Sharon.  The interviews will follow a light lunch beginning at noon.  Legislators participating will be Senator Michele Brooks (50th District), Representative Mark Longietti (7th District), Representative Tedd Nesbit (8th District), and Representative Parke Wentling (17th District).

Mystery Dinner Theater: My Fatal Valentine

The Montessori School of the Mahoning Valley is presenting a murder mystery dinner theater My Fatal Valentine, by E. Moushey, at The Georgetown, 5945 South Avenue in Boardman, on Saturday February 7, beginning at 5:30 pm. More information about the event is available at valleymysterytheatre.com.

Game of Hope

The Hope Foundation of the Mahoning Valley presents the Game of Hope at YSU’s Beeghly Center on Sunday, February 8.  It begins with a  family fun day and activities at the Kids Fun Zone at 1:00 pm.  That's followed by community leaders taking the court at 3:00 for a basketball game.  Tickets are available at Hope MV dot org.

 

 

Trumbull Art Gallery: David Hume Kennerly

The Trumbull Art Gallery is featuring an exhibition of photographs from David Hume Kennerly's newest book David Hume Kennerly on the iPhone.  This show is being presented in collaboration with YSU's College of Creative Arts and Communication. The show can be seen Tuesday, February 2, through Saturday, February 7, between 12 pm and 4 pm. The Gallery is at Courthouse Square in Warren, 158 N. Park Avenue. BIAA Free Family Day - Howland Branch

The Butler Institute of American Art is offering a free family day program on Saturday, January 17, beginning at 2:00 pm, at the Butler's Trumbull branch in Howland. More information is available at 330.743.1107, ext. 114.  

77th Area Artists Annual Exhibition - BIAA

Deadline for entry for the 77th Area Artists Annual Exhibition at the Butler Institute of American Art has been extended to January 9. The Butler’s area show is open to artists who reside within Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in Ohio; and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania. Works in all media are eligible including oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastel, drawings, prints, photographs, ceramics, sculpture and crafts. No more than two works may be entered, and the entries must have been completed within the last two years.
