Home Run 5K

Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County is holding its 15th annual Home Run 5K/2k Fun Walk on Saturday, November 1, at 9:00 am, at Holy Family Church in Poland, Ohio. Preregistration is $15 through October 31. Race Day registration is $18. The kids' Race is free for children ten and under. Adult registration includes a t-shirt, and snacks and drinks for all will be provided at the event.  Registration information is available at habitatmahoningcounty.org/fundraisers/.

7 Days of STEM Youngstown Regional Science & Technology Festival

Seven Days of STEM, the Youngstown Regional Science & Technology Festival, takes place from Monday, September 15 through Sunday, September 21.  7 Days of STEM is a collaborative effort powered by OH WOW! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology.

13th Annual Paul Baringer Golf Classic

7th Annual Women's Leadership Conference

The 7th Annual Women's Leadership Conference will be held at the YWCA on Rayen Avenue in Youngstown, on Friday, September 26, from 8:30 am - 3:00 pm.  The conference includes guest speakers, break-out sessions, networking opportunities, basket raffle and door prizes.  This year's Keynote Speaker is Barb Ewing, COO of the Youngstown Business Incubator.  More information is available at 330-746-6361.

 

 

 

Register to Vote at the YWCA

On Tuesday, September 23, from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm, the YWCA of Youngstown will participate in National Voter Registration Day, a massive 50-state effort to register voters before Election Day this November.  To vote, you need to be registered 30 days before Election Day, which is November 4 this year. Registration can be done at the YWCA on Rayen avenue in Youngstown on Tuesday, September 23.

 

OCCHA’s 42nd Annual Gala

OCCHA’s 42nd Annual Gala is schedules for Friday, October 17, 5:30-11:00 pm, at the Georgetown Banquet Hall, on South Avenue, in Boardman.  OCCHA is a social service agency serving the Hispanic and multicultural community, celebrating 42 years of service with an adults only event at the Georgetown Banquet Center. YSU Hispanic Heritage Committee Hispanic Heritage Celebration

The YSU Hispanic Heritage Committee presents a Hispanic Heritage Celebration on Saturday, October 4, at noon in the Chestnut Room of the YSU Kilcawley Center.  This main event will feature music entertainment, dance performances, children’s activities, cultural displays, vendors, information tables and ethnic refreshments. The event is co-sponsored by the Youngstown State University Office Student Diversity Programs with support from campus and community organizations as well as local sponsors. ECHHO College Fair at OCCHA

The Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee presents the ECHHO College Fair at OCCHA, on Shirley Road in Youngstown, on Thursday, September 25, 9:00 - 11:00 am.  The 2014 Annual Educators and Community Helping Hispanics Onward, Inc. (ECHHO) College Fair is for underrepresented high school students and their parents to learn about the college preparation process and the Hispanic/Latino scholarships available to those who qualify. The YSU Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee presents a discussion on Making the Most of a Multicultural Diet While in College, in the James Gallery of the YSU Kilcawley Center on Thursday, September 25, 12:00 pm.  The YSU Department of Campus Recreation will be hosting an event on multicultural foods and restaurants offered on campus and in the Youngstown community. SU Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee: Koula Glaros-King

The YSU Hispanic Heritage Planning Committee presents Koula Glaros-King in a lecture titled Immigration Reform: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, at the Newport Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, on Market Street in Youngstown, on Wednesday, September 24, at 6:30 pm.  Koula Glaros-King is an Attorney at Community Legal Aid specializing in immigration work.  The lecture is co-sponsored by the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County.
