Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival

St. John's Episcopal Church, on Wick Avenue in Youngstown, celebrates the 56th annual Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival on Sunday, January 8, with performances at 1:30 and 4:00 pm. Ticket and parking information are available at 330-743-3175. The festival is one of the longest running such festivals in the country. It features the Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival Choir; brass, bagpipers, drummers, and a cast of approximately 100 St. John’s parishioners dressed in medieval costume.

First Night Youngstown 2015

Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman's Mill

Mill Creek MetroParks presents its annual Olde Fashioned Christmas at Lanterman's Mill on Saturday, November 29th from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.  Lanterman’s Mill will be festively decorated for the event.  There will be fine entertainment, chestnuts roasted over an open fire, Santa Claus, and artisans demonstrate crafts at this popular community event.. 

Holiday Open House at the Barnhisel House in Girard

Walk back in history at  A Sew-Sew Historical Christmas  at the Barnhisel House at 101 N. State St. in Girard. The Open Houses will include displays of quilts, organ music , refreshments and guided tours conducted by costumed docents. Mill Creek MetroParks Winter Nights

Mill Creek MetroParks presents Winter Nights at Fellows Riverside Gardens and the D.D. and Velma Davis Education and Visitor Center. This year's Winter Nights features the outdoor Gardens with an expanded light display. It is open one more night, Sunday, December 28, 5:00 - 7:00 pm.

Winter Celebration: The Gingerbread Garden

Mill Creek MetroParks Fellows Riverside Gardens presents Winter Celebration: The Gingerbread Garden at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center. This year's Winter Celebration features a floral display; Gingerbread Lane; Delphinium’s Gingerbread Shoppe, and a Holiday tree display.  It is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, through Sunday, January 4.

 

YSU Dana School of Music Carols and Cocoa & Holiday Concert

The YSU Dana School of Music presents its annual Carols and Cocoa and Holiday Concert on Wednesday, December 3, at 7:00 pm, at Stambaugh Auditorium. [ Featured groups are the Dana Trombone Ensemble, the Dana Clarinet Ensemble, the Dana Early Music Ensemble, the Dana Flute Ensemble, the University Chorus, the Women’s Chorus, the Dana Chorale, the Dana Barbershop Quartet, and the Stambaugh Chorus.] The concert will feature Vivaldi’s Magnificat, the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah, Robert Shaw’s The Many Moods of Christmas, and other seasonal music.

Christmas on the Farm

Christmas on the Farm, a craft and gift market will be held on Saturday, November 29 from 10 AM to 5 PM at Molnar Farms in Poland. The farm will host several local artisan vendors with unique hand-crafted gifts, decorations and treats perfect for the holiday season at its inaugural seasonal market. Entry is free and open to the public.

Sisters on the Move Outreach Program

The Youngstown Chapter of Links Inc.  is sponsoring  a Sisters on the Move  Outreach Program,  a follow-up of the annual 300 Sisters in Red Program.  It will be held  on Wednesday, November 19, 5:30-7:30 pm at the South Side Library on Market St. and Midlothian.  25 ladies were invited to attend the follow-up program  to help them improve any health problem they may have. There will be physicians, nurses , laboratory and other professionals to guide and help them to achieve a healthy life style.
