Shakespeare at the Castle: Taming of the Shrew

Shakespeare at the Castle presents, Shakespeare's "Taming of the Shrew." The second annual theatre festival performing live on the grounds of Glamorgan Castle in Alliance, will take place July 23-26, at 7:00 pm. For tickets, information is available at mountunion.edu/Shakespeare.

McD's Sock Run

The McD's Sock Run, sponsored by Ronald McDonald House Charities of Mahoning Valley & Western Pennsylvania, takes place on Sunday, September 27. The Kid's 1/2 Mile Run starts at 2:30 pm. The Adult 5 K Run/Walk starts at 3:00 pm. More information at 330 502-0112 or coordinator@rmhc-mvwpa.org.

McDonough Museum of Art: Gary Taneri: New Work

The McDonough Museum of Art, on the campus of Youngstown State University presents Gary Taneri: New Work, a collaboration with Erie Terminal Event Space and Commercial Gallery. On view through July 31 at 112 West Commerce Street in downtown Youngstown, the exhibition features 14 new paintings by Warren native Gary Taneri. Hours are Tuesday & Thursday 10:00 am - 3:00 pm; Wednesday & Friday Noon - 6:00 pm.

St. Patrick Church: Summer Arts Camp

St. Patrick Church, on Oak Hill Avenue, in Youngstown, is hosting a Summer Arts Camp the week of August 3 - 7, from 9:00 am-2:00 pm daily. Activities include singing, drama, handbells, boomwhackers, hands-on visual art activities, creative writing/poetry and individual instrument tutoring. All of the classes are being taught by qualified artists from the parish, artists from the community, as well as from Youngstown State University. The art camp is open to all children Grades K-12. There is a $5.00 registration fee per child.

Salem Public Library: Keeping Your Family’s Past

Pamela L Speis, Archivist at Mahoning Valley Historical Society, will present the program “Keeping Your Family’s Past” on Wednesday, July 22, from 6:30-7:30 pm in the salem Public Library’s Quaker Room. The presentation will provide discussion and advice on the proper care and preservation of photographic formats, manuscripts and ephemera that make up a family’s history. Salem Public Library: Adult Vaccinations

The Salem Public Library presents clinical pharmacist Kevin Fuschetto on Wednesday, July 8, at 6:30pm speaking on the topic “Addult Vaccinations: Find Out How to Stop the Flu, Shingles, Pneumonia, and Pertussis Too!” This program is open to the public and free to attend. Animal Charity: Rover Race

Animal Charity of Ohio is presenting the "Rover Race" 3K walk and 5K fun run in Mill Creek Park in Youngstown, at the Wick Recreation Area on Saturday, October 3rd, at 9:00 AM. The Skeggs Lecture Series: Martin Sheen

The Youngstown State University Skeggs Lecture Series presents Martin Sheen, on Wednesday, October 16, at 7:00 pm, at Stambaugh Auditorium, in Youngstown. Martin Sheen is an award-winning actor, social activist & humanitarian, and Front Line Special Envoy.  The lecture is free, but tickets are mandatory, and available at stambaughauditorium.com, beginning Monday, September 9.

YSU Centofanti Symposium: Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini

The Centofanti Symposium at YSU presents a talk by Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini, on Tuesday, November 12, at 7:00 pm, in the Chestnut Room of YSU's Kilcawley Center. Mancini is a former professional boxer, who has since worked as an actor and commentator. The lecture is free.  Tickets are not required.

 

 

St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church: Greek Summerfest

The St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church annual Greek Summerfest takes place on Thursday, July 9, 11:00 am - 7:00 pm; Friday, July 10 & Saturday, July 11, 11:00 am - 10:00 pm; and Sunday, July 12, Noon - 6:00 pm. The Greek Summerfest features Greek music, and lamb and chicken dinners all four days, fish dinners on Friday only, and much more.
