So when they hear that trouble is brewing around a small-town prom, they know that it’s time to put a spotlight on the issue…and themselves. The Butler Institute of American Art presents the Opening Reception and Awards for the 85th Area Artist Annual Exhibition, on Sunday, January 5th, at the Butler, on Wick Avenue in Youngstown. The exhibition features 119 works by 101 artists. This year's annual was juried by Tom Acosta, a self-taught artist who explores his identity as a Mexican American. More information at butlerart.com.
St. John's Episcopal Church, on Wick Avenue, in Youngstown, presents the 62nd-Annual Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival, on Sunday, January 5th at 1:30 and 4:00 pm. Featuring music for organ, brass, and choir, period costumes and pageantry, the Boar's Head and Yule Log Festival portrays the journey from darkness to the Epiphany.
