The YSU Ward Beecher Planetarium presents the program Moons: Worlds of Mystery, every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm from March 7 through March 29. Explore hundreds of moons throughout the solar system, orbiting five other planets and even some asteroids and Kuiper Belt objects. The program is free and open to the public. The Youngstown Chapter of the American Association of University Women present the program The International Within and Without: Thinking Globally, Acting Locally, on Saturday March 15th at 10 am, in Room 3423 of Williamson Hall, on the YSU campus. This program features Dr. Keith Lepak, YSU Professor Emeritus of Political Science and Dr. Nancy Wagner, the former Director of the Centofanti School of Nursing. All are welcome to participate in the discussion. Parking is available at St. Columba Cathedral off Wood Street.
AAUW aims to “advance gender equity through research, education, and advocacy.” Local chapter meetings seek to educate, inspire, and promote higher education as an empowering force.
Discussion will focus on teaching YSU students about international politics, and describing international initiatives to improve education, health, and wellness.
The Medici (meh DEE chee) Museum of Art presents Mirages, an exhibition by Canadian artist Alex Garant, running through April 5th. A trailblazer in contemporary figurative op art, Garant's oil paintings blend graphic elements with traditional portraiture techniques. The Trumbull County Historical Society & Medici (meh DEE chee) Museum of Art present Science Fiction & Hollywood: The Art of John Zabrucky, an exhibition showcasing modern props designed by Zabrucky now on display at the Medici Museum of Art through June 28th. An American prop designer and co-founder of Modern Props Inc., Zabrucky contributed props to hundreds of films such as Ghostbusters and RoboCop, as well as films and TV series in the Star Trek, Marvel, and DC franchises.
