Changes to Morning Program Schedule!

You have probably noticed, there have been some changes to the Morning Edition schedule that affect when you will hear some of your favorite local inserts, such as regional news headlines, the "Writer's Almanac," and Gina Marinelli's "Doing Good."

NPR recently revamped their program schedule, forcing some local changes on our end.

Remembering Car Talk's Tom Magliozzi

Tom Magliozzi, one of the hosts of Car Talk, passed away Monday, November 3, due to complications of Alzheimer's Disease.

This weekend, Car Talk will air a tribute version of the show in which Ray will share the news with listeners and remember some of Tom's most spectacular moments. There is also a remembrance at CarTalk.com.

After this weekend, the show will be titled The Best of Car Talk.

WYSU Ashtabula frequency has changed to 88.1 MHz

As of November 12, 2014, WYSU has relocated transmissions in Ashtabula, Ohio, to 88.1 MHz, to be known as W201DP.  

Canton Symphony Spotlights In-house Talent

The Canton Symphony will present Orchestra Spotlight on Sunday, November 2, with a concert featuring it's own talented members and solo performances on classical favorites. The program begins at 7:30 p.m. and includes works by Vivaldi, Bach, Mozart, and Ginastera. All Canton Symphony Concerts are held at Umstattd Performing Arts Hall, 2323 17th Street NW -- its home in Canton, Ohio. Board of Trustees Meeting

The YSU Board of Trustees general meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 24th at 3:00pm, in Trustees Meeting Room in Tod Hall on the YSU campus. The YSU Board of Trustees is WYSU-FM's supervisory board and WYSU business could be addressed at this meeting. The meeting is open to the public.

President Tressel on WYSU's "Looking Out" Friday, Sept. 19th

WYSU's "Looking Out" has kicked off the Fall Schedule of new programming with some great guests -- including YSU President Jim Tressel.  "Looking Out" host Dr. George McCloud talks with Tressel on a variety of topics of concern to the University. The segment will air this Friday, September 19, at 7:30 p.m. on 88.5 WYSU.  "Looking Out" is a forum where community leaders discuss issues that affect all of us -- from global concerns to issues here in our community. An Evening with Maurice LoMonaco September 21

Maurice LoMonaco, a classically influenced Sicilian singer/songwriter, will perform a concert Sunday, September 21, at the DeYor Performing Arts Center in downtown Youngstown. The concert is sponsored by the Italian Scholarship League and will start at 6:30 p.m. in the Ford Family Recital Hall. 

An amazing end to the WYSU Fund Drive!

$140,247! That was the total at the END of the Fund Drive on Friday at 4 p.m.   Thank you to all of our members who have donated during this financially challenging time, as well as to the new members who have joined to support us! You helped us exceed our goal by $8,000.
