PSO to Present Valentine's Pops Concert in New Castle

The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will present "Love is in the Air - A Valentine's Pops Celebration" at New Castle's Scottish Rite Cathedral on Saturday, February 15th at 8 p.m.

Canton Symphony Season Continues in January!

The Canton Symphony Orchestra’s 2013-2014 season continues January 25, with the MasterWorks Concert “The Americans Part 1: The Search for Identity.” Pianist André Watts returns to Canton as a guest artist. The pieces include Suite for Strings in E Major, Op. 63 by Arthur Foote, Symphony No. 2, Op. 30 (“Romantic”) by Howard Hanson, Piano Concerto No. 2 in d minor by Edward MacDowell and The Incredible Flutist Suite by Walter Piston.

CSO Assistant Conductor Rachel Waddell will also be conducting a piece for the concert. It will be her MasterWorks conducting debut.

Mad About The Arts is February 21!

This is the 19th year for Mad About the Arts and tickets are in great demand! Tickets are no longer available online but will be available at the door prior to the event (checks only, please).

TEDxYoungstown Announces Speaker Line Up

TEDxYoungtown is pleased to announce the lineup of speakers for their inaugural event to be held on January 24, 2014, at the Williamson College of Business Administration on the campus of Youngstown State University.

The committee collected applications through the TEDxYoungstown.com website and held open casting calls on October 1, to find the first year speakers.

WYSU Adopts Code of Integrity for Public Media

WYSU 88.5 FM, Youngstown’s public radio station, has adopted the Public Media Code of Integrity. The code was recently developed and approved by public radio, television and service organizations from across the country, and has the support of the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.  

Canton Symphony Season is Thrilling and Eclectic!

Cleveland International Piano Competition winner, Alexander Schimpf will be the orchestra’s guest artist on Sunday, November 24, 2013, at 7:30 p.m..  This program, entitled “Friends and Family”, includes Ives’ Thanksgiving and Forefathers Day, Elgar’s gorgeous Enigma Variations, Op. 36, and Grieg’s Piano Concerto in a minor, Op. 16, in which Mr. Schimpf is a soloist.

Bonjour tout le monde! WYSU is Going to France!

This trip is scheduled for 10 days, starting May 1, 2014. It includes Nice, the Cote d’Azure, Monte Carlo, and Paris, of course! A basic tour price of $3,600 includes airfare, all hotels, many meals, and much more.

Update: At the moment, the tour is sold out, but cancellations are always a very strong possibility.
