YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Youngstown CityScape will kick off its annual StreetScape campaign and celebrate 17 years of planting at a breakfast news conference Friday at the D.D. and Velma Davis Center in Mill Creek MetroParks’ Fellows Riverside Gardens. StreetScape 2014: “We Canna! Canna You?” will take place 8 a.m.-noon, May 31. In addition to the downtown area, the cleanup will focus on areas including Wick Park, St. Elizabeth Health Center, Youngstown State University and the city’s gateways. YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Frigid temperatures in February cooled off vehicle purchases from area showrooms, as sales largely kept pace with those of the year before, reports the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio. Dealers reported selling 1,745 new cars and trucks last month, down modestly from 1,766 in February 2013. COLUMBUS, Ohio -- A total of 7,753 new entities filed with the office of secretary of state to do business in Ohio in February. In January and February, new business filings totaled 15,533, up from 15,157 the same period last year. During 2012 and 2013, the state saw a record-setting number of new businesses file, with 88,068 and 89,735 filings, respectively. STUEBENVILLE, Ohio -- Eastern Gateway Community College is one of the top fastest growing colleges in the nation, according to the American Association of Community Colleges. YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Youngstown State University has been recognized with a Healthy Worksite Award by the Ohio Department of Health. This is the third consecutive year YSU has earned such as award. For 2013, YSU earned the Silver Award, up from the Bronze awards it received in 2011 and 2012. YSU won the honor in the Large Business category. About 50 people attended Idora Neighborhood Assocaition meeting to discuss their concerns about development with members of the Youngstown Neighorhood Development Corp. The area has seen considerable growth in the past 10 years. YNDC officials attribute this to active involvement by residents.
