Winter Celebration: The Gingerbread Garden

Mill Creek MetroParks Fellows Riverside Gardens presents Winter Celebration: The Gingerbread Garden at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center. This year's Winter Celebration features a floral display; Gingerbread Lane; Delphinium’s Gingerbread Shoppe, and a Holiday tree display.  It is open Tuesdays through Sundays, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm, through Sunday, January 4.

 

Boardman's18th Annual Community Christmas

Boardman's 18th Annual Community Christmas Celebration is scheduled for December 7th, 4:00 - 6:00 pm. Tree decoration begins at 4:00,  Santa arrives by firetruck at 4:30, and music and caroling starts at4:45 in the St. James Meeting House.  Tree reservations can be made at the Park office at 330-726-8105 or at angela@boardmanpark.com.

Pumpkin Carve-out Contest RUNS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 10TH, 6:00 TO 9:00 PM; SATURDAY, OCTOBER 11TH, NOON TO 9:00 PM AND SUNDAY, OCTOBER 12TH, NOON TO 5:00 PM.    There is a small fee for the pumpkins. prizes will be awarded in different age categories from children to adults.

Until There's a Cure, There's a Dog~ Diabetic Alert Dog for Cameron Event

K-9's for Compassion presents Until There's a Cure, There's a Dog~ Diabetic Alert Dog for Cameron, an event that takes place on Saturday, September 27, 10:00 am - 5:00 pm at Austintown Township Park.  There is more information on Facebook: diabeticalertdogforcameron.

 

Family Fun Walk

Catholic Charities Regional Agency will host its 1st Annual Family Fun Walk, making strides to reduce poverty one step at a time on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Howland Township Park, 2000 Rosegarden, in Warren, beginning at 10:00 am.  The Family Fun Walk will consist of a two-mile walk, games, food, music and free information addressing the issues of poverty specifically in Trumbull County.  Registration information is available at 330-744-3320, and at the Catholic Charities’ website - www.ccdoy.org

10k & 5k Run/Walk

Crisis Shelter's annual 5k Run or Walk and 10K Run will take place at Pearson Park, in New Castle, on October 11. Registration begins at 7:00 am and race starts at 8:30. Home Run 5K

Habitat for Humanity of Mahoning County is holding its 15th annual Home Run 5K/2k Fun Walk on Saturday, November 1, at 9:00 am, at Holy Family Church in Poland, Ohio. Preregistration is $15 through October 31. Race Day registration is $18. The kids' Race is free for children ten and under. Adult registration includes a t-shirt, and snacks and drinks for all will be provided at the event.  Registration information is available at habitatmahoningcounty.org/fundraisers/.

Rebuilding History: A Walking Tour of Downtown Youngstown

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society presents an after-work walking tour of Downtown Youngstown, on Thursday, September 11. The  event is part of the Young Leaders History-To-Go Series and will begin at 5:30 pm at the Erie Terminal building on Westt Commerce Street, with a brief tour of that recently restored property. The tour will visit several locations before concluding with a reception at the Rust Belt Brewing Company. The tour and reception are open to the public. "Remaking History" - Downtown History Tour
