Mill Creek MetroParks Fellows Riverside Gardens presents The Forest, the area’s premier floral display with a reimagined forest, and a Holiday Tree Walk with over 40 live trees -- through Monday, January 4. Jingle Bell Run 2015

The Youngstown Road Runners present the Jingle Bell 5K Saturday, on December 26 at 1:00 pm at the Canfield Fairgrounds. There is also a Kids Run is at 12:45. Register online at Runsignup.com or pick up a race registration form at Second Sole in Boardman. More information on ytownrunners.org.

North of Madison Avenue Better Block Association Celebration

The North of Madison Avenue Better Block Association is sponsoring a celebration on Friday, October 2, 4:30 - 10:00 pm, and all day on Saturday, October 3. It will include a “pop-up” market, YSU Student Jazz Ensemble at Dorian Books; lectures, movement and cooking demos; music, poetry, and food. Music at Madison presents "Songs of Broadway" on Saturday evening - reservations required. The North Side Farmer’s Market will also expand and have some extra activities on Saturday. Boardman Park's Canine Carnival

Boardman Township Park and Animal Charity presents Boardman Park's Canine Carnival, a Free Family Event on Sunday, October 11th, noon - 4:00 pm, at the Masters Pavilion and Lariccia Bocce Court, in the park. Mill Creek MetroParks: Fall Garden Speaker - Doug Oster

The John S. and Doris M. Andrews Memorial Lecture Series and Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens are presenting Emmy Award Winning producer, television host, and writer, Doug Oster, on Thursday, September 24th, at 7:00 PM, at the Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Metro Parks. Doug will share techniques on how to extend your garden season. The event is free and open to the public. Registration requested, but not required, at 330-740-7116.

Boardman Park Outdoor Family Day

Boardman Township Park in Youngstown is hosting Outdoor Family Day on Saturday, September 12th, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All ages are welcome to enjoy archery, fishing, live animals, wagon rides, a live band, and much more! Admission is free with a non-perishable food item, which will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank. Food concessions will be available. Information on the event can be found at boardmanpark.com.

The Soap Gallery: Opening Gala and Art Walk

Youngstown's newest fine art gallery, The Soap Gallery, will host their Grand Opening Gala and Art Walk on Friday, October 2nd, at 5:00 pm at 117 S. Champion Street. Fifth Annual Nonviolence Parade and Rally

Vanishing Acts: Trees Under Threat

Mill Creek MetroParks Fellows Riverside Gardens presents Vanishing Acts: Trees Under Threat, a large outdoor exhibit on display through October 31. [Vanishing Acts takes a compelling look at the precarious plight of the world’s trees and what that means to our everyday lives.] The self-guided exhibit begins at the D.D. and Velma Davis Education & Visitor Center and continues throughout the Gardens. Discovery backpacks with activities related to the exhibit and trees are available for families to check out at the Information Desk. Admission is free. More information at
