The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Randall Craig Fleischer presents two of the world’s most beloved classic works on Saturday, September 20 at 8:00 pm in Powers Auditorium: Antonin Dvorak’s 9th Symphony and Sergei Rachmaninv’s Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini. Rachmaninov's Rhapsody features rising young pianist Tomoki Sakata, a finalist at the most recent Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth, Texas. The Oberlin Baroque Trio from the Oberlin College Conservatory of Music will perform a concert of classical music at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in downtown Ashtabula on Sunday, October 5, at 3:00 pm. The Dana School of Music announces an outdoor concert by the YSU Wind Ensemble on Wednesday, September 3, at 7:00 pm, at Harrison Common, located on Walnut Street across from the MVR. The concert features a variety of music including music from the soundtrack of the movie Robin Hood to a patriotic Armed Forces Salute. The concert is free and open to the public. The New Music Guild and the YSU New Music Society present Bulgarian pianist Avguste Antonov in a concert on Sunday, August 31 at Holy Apostles Church on Covington Street in Youngstown. Antonov will perform works by American composers. He also will perform at The Butler Institute of American Art on Wednesday, September 3 at noon.

The Lake Milton Nature Arts Council, in collaboration with the Dana School of Music, will present YSU Jazz & Wine Under the Stars, on Saturday, August 9, at 7:30 pm, on the waterfront at the Lake Milton State Park Amphitheater. The program Old Wine - New Bottles will highlight the bebop and swing compositions of Clevelander Tadd Dameron, based on his favorite standards. YSU faculty and alumni musicians include Kent Engelhardt, Glenn Schaft, Shawn Marko, and Alton Merrell. The Youngstown Jazz Collective Swing Band will follow.
