Great Music Without Barriers Concert Series

The Great Music Without Barriers Concert Series of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Ashtabula will present the Amici String Quartet -- consisting of members from the Cleveland Orchestra -- in a concert featuring two of Beethoven’s string quartets on Sunday, April 26, at 2:00 pm at St. Peter’s in downtown Ashtabula. The concert and reception are free and open to the public. The concert is sponsored by the Fine Arts Concert Committee of St. Peter’s. West End Ensemble March Concert

The West End Ensemble presents a String Chamber Music Concert at Cedars at 706 Steel Street on the west side of Youngstown on Sunday, March 22. Doors open at 6:00 pm, and the concert begins at 7:00 pm. [The West End Ensemble consists of Joseph Kromholz, Professor of Violin at Youngstown State University; violinist Lisa Kim, Akron Symphony Orchestra, cellist Paul Miahky, Canton Symphony Orchestra; and violist Vince Scacchetti.] The program includes Haydn's String Quartet in G Major, Opus 76 Number 1 and a wide selection of other works. Tickets available at the door.

Canfield Community Band Winter Concert

The Canfield Community Concert Band will present a concert on Sunday, March 22 at 3:00 pm in the auditorium at Canfield High School. The theme of the concert is Crossing Borders and the program will feature music for wind band representing classic and contemporary styles from around the world.

Youngstown Symphony Orchestra: Hometown Heroes concert

The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra will celebrate Hometown Heroes with the help of Warren native Sean Jones, performing the Arutunian Trumpet Concerto, on April 18th at 8:00 pm, at the Edward W. Powers Auditorium in the DeYor Performing Arts Center in Youngstown.  The Youngstown Symphony Youth Orchestra will perform Jean Sibelius’ Second Symphony on the concert. More information at youngstown-symphony-dot-com or 330-744-0264

 

 

Youngstown Symphony Orchestra: City Lights

The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra will perform Charlie Chaplin's film score during a live screening of his 1931 silent film City Lights, on March 21st at 8:00 pm. at the Edward W. Powers Auditorium in the DeYor Performing Arts Center in Youngstown. Mozart's Symphony Number 38, the Prague Symphony, is also on the concert.  More information at youngstown-symphony-dot-com or 330-744-0264.

BUILDING ART 2015

BUILDING ART 2015, the annual celebration of the creative artists and great works happening at the Morley Arts Building in Youngstown, is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th, at 7:00 pm. The Morley Arts Building, located at 218 West Boardman Street in Youngstown, is the home to Ballet Western Reserve, Ballet Western Reserve Center for Dance Education. Thiel College Choir Concert at St. Columba Cathedral

 The Northeast Ohio American Guild of Organists is sponsoring a concert by the Thiel College Choir, on Friday, March 27, at 7:00 pm, at St. Columba Cathedral,on W. Rayen Avenue, in Youngstown. The choir, under the direction of Dr. Michael Bray, will perform a variety of sacred a cappella works, as well as organ accompanied works. 2015 YSU Diversity Leadership Recognition Dinner and Scholarship Benefit Concert

The 2015 YSU Diversity Leadership Recognition event will honor the diversity & inclusion efforts of area leaders, on Friday, March 27th, at Stambaugh Auditorium.  The dinner and awards begin at 5:30 pm, featuring guest speaker Landau Eugene Murphy, Jr., the 2011 Winner of America's Got Talent. Murphy will also give a concert at 8:00 pm following the dinner. Celebration of Music Song Service

Singers from around the region are invited to participate in a Celebration of Music Song Service under the direction of Jared Jacobsen on Sunday, March 15, at 4:00 pm, at the Lakeside Performing Arts Center in Ashtabula. Mr. Jacobsen is the organist, choir director and director of worship at Chautauqua Institute, NY. Jacobsen will lead the choir and audience in a concert celebration of music in the format of a Chautauqua Sacred Song Service.  Interested singers are invited to join the Ashtabula County Choral Music Society in pre-concert rehearsals at 1:30 pm.
