The YSU Department of Theater and Dance presents "Blissful Beginnings, Opening Night Art Walk," on Thursday, April 6, at 6:00 pm, in the Bliss Recital Hall, on the YSU campus. It’s a night devoted to the arts on opening night of the YSU Dance Ensemble Concert.
The Ashtabula Brass Band conducted by Dana School of Music student Robert Bo Violette (Vee Oh Let) will perform a concert titled The British are Coming!, on Sunday, April 2, at 1:00 pm, at St. Columba Cathedral, on Wood Street, in Youngstown. The performance will feature work by British composers.This event is open to the public.
Westminster College presents a free concert by the Westminster College Wind Ensemble, on Friday, March 31, at 7:30 pm, at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 110 East Lincoln Avenue, in New Castle. The ensemble will be joined by the Shenango Valley Chorale and pianist Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo.
The Arab American Community Center in Youngstown is sponsoring a performance by the Shoruq Girls’ Hip-Hop Group, on Saturday, March 25, at 7:00 pm, at St. Ann Church 4310 Kirk Road, in Youngstown. The 18 dancers, all between the ages of 12 and 16, live in a Palestinian refugee camp. The group will perform a selection of songs they have created themselves, in a mix of Arabic and English.
The Stambaugh Chorus and and Warren Civic Chorus are presenting a "Messiah Sing-Along," under the direction of Dr. Hae-Jong Lee, on Friday, March 24, at 7:30 pm, at Christ Episcopal Church, 2627 Atlantic Street NE, in Warren. Featured vocal soloists are Brianne Samson, Victor Cardamone, and Max Pivik. The musical accompanists are Kathy Miller on organ and Susan Sexton on trumpet. All are invited to participate.
The 24th Annual YSU Flute Festival takes place on Saturday, March 15, 8:30 am - 4:00 pm, in the Bliss Recital Hall, on the YSU campus. Feature special guest artist is Marianne Gedigian, Professor of Flute at The University of Texas. This event includes masterclasses, exhibitors, and concerts. The Rockin' Road To Dublin show is coming to Youngstown on Sunday, March 26 at 7:30 pm, at Powers Auditorium,. Rockin' Road to Dublin combines the art of an Irish dance show, the power of a Rock-N-Roll concert, with the finish of a Broadway theatrical production.
