The Simple Gifts Interfaith Choir presents "Sing His Praise! A Hymn Festival" on Sunday, May 15, at 3:00 pm. The concert will take place at the First Presbyterian Church of Hubbard, located at 22 Westview Avenue. Admission is free. A reception in the church hall will follow the performance.
WYSU is a sponsor for the popular "Pops at the Ballpark" concert scheduled for Saturday, May 21, at Eastwood Field in Niles. The Youngstown Symphony Orchestra takes to the baseball field for a performance that includes selections from their extensive repertoire. The night ends with a spectacular fireworks display that is synced with orchestral music. The First Presbyterian Church of Salem presents a concert by pianist Dr. Calvin Taylor, on Sunday, May 15, at 4:00 pm, at the Church, 436 East 2nd Street, in Salem. Dr. Taylor will perform hymns, spirituals, classics, and patriotic music. Seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis, and there is no charge for admission. [Dr. Taylor has degrees in music from Oberlin Conservatory, The University of Michigan, and the University of Kentucky. He has authored music books including Spirituals for the Piano, Sacred Classics, The Patriotic Piano, and Five Spirituals for Organ.]
