The 54th annual Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival at St. John’s Episcopal Church, on Wick Avenue, in Youngstown, will take place January 4, at 1:30 and 4:30 pm. The festival is one of the longest running such festivals in the country. It features the Boar’s Head & Yule Log Festival Choir & Brass, bagpipers, drummers, and a cast of approximately 100 St. John’s parishioners dressed in medieval costume. Tickets may be purchased in the church office from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, Monday through Thursday, and until noon on Fridays.

The YSU Dana School of Music presents its annual Holiday Concert and Carols and Cocoa on Wednesday, December 3. Carols and Cocoa begins at 7:00 pm, followed by Holiday Concert at 8:00 pm at Stambaugh Auditorium. Featured groups are the Dana Trombone Ensemble, the Dana Clarinet Ensemble, the Dana Early Music Ensemble, the Dana Flute Ensemble, the University Chorus, the Women’s Chorus, the Dana Chorale and the Stambaugh Chorus.The concert will feature selections from Handel’s Messiah and other seasonal music.
