M Gallery at Erie Terminal Place in downtown Youngstown will host a YSU collaborative event - a glamorous 1920s themed Halloween Masquerade on Friday, October 30th from 8:00 pm - midnight. The party recalls 1923, the year the historic Erie Terminal was built. 1920s themed costumes encouraged but not required. Music by the swingin' jazz band Dr. Zoot from Pittsburgh! The Southside Fine Arts Academy, located at the Fairview Arts and Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, has its opening event on Tuesday, October 13th at 4:00 pm. The Academy, sponsored by The Mahoning Valley Chorale, will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays in October, with Saturday classes added in November. The Legal Creative is presenting a Legal Clinic for Creatives at the Main Branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, on Friday, July 24th from Noon to 4:00 PM. During the Legal Clinics, art professionals and art organizations can schedule an appointment to meet face-to-face with a volunteer attorney. Registration is free and open to all artists and arts organizations regardless of income, however, consultations are limited to topics relating to the running of an arts business, such as copyright law, trademark law, contract law, and general business formation.
St. Patrick Church, on Oak Hill Avenue, in Youngstown, is hosting a Summer Arts Camp the week of August 3 - 7, from 9:00 am-2:00 pm daily. Activities include singing, drama, handbells, boomwhackers, hands-on visual art activities, creative writing/poetry and individual instrument tutoring. All of the classes are being taught by qualified artists from the parish, artists from the community, as well as from Youngstown State University. The art camp is open to all children Grades K-12. There is a $5.00 registration fee per child.
