The Dom Leone Writing Competition Benefit/Variety Show will be held on Friday, November 27, at 7:00 pm, at Ursuline High School. There will be music, dance, magic, comedy, comedy theater, and readings by past winners of the writing competition. The Dom Leone Writing Competition is held annually for students in the Youngstown area parochial schools.
Ballet Western Reserve presents "A Youngstown Nutcracker" on Saturday December 5th. at 2:00 and 7:00 pm at Powers Auditorium. It is the classic Tchaikovsky ballet with a local twist and features more than 150 Ballet Western Reserve dancers and local performers. Tickets are available at youngstownsymphony.com.

M Gallery at Erie Terminal Place in downtown Youngstown will host a YSU collaborative event - a glamorous 1920s themed Halloween Masquerade on Friday, October 30th from 8:00 pm - midnight. The party recalls 1923, the year the historic Erie Terminal was built. 1920s themed costumes encouraged but not required. Music by the swingin' jazz band Dr. Zoot from Pittsburgh! The Southside Fine Arts Academy, located at the Fairview Arts and Outreach Center, 4220 Youngstown-Poland Road, has its opening event on Tuesday, October 13th at 4:00 pm. The Academy, sponsored by The Mahoning Valley Chorale, will be open on Tuesdays and Thursdays in October, with Saturday classes added in November.
