YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio -- Sales of single-family houses in April were up substantially from a year earlier in Trumbull County while stable in Mahoning and Columbiana counties, according to the monthly report from the Youngstown Columbiana Association of Realtors.
In Trumbull County, 151 houses were sold in April, up from 130 in April 2013 and from 131 in March. In Mahoning County, 201 units were sold last month, down just one from 202 a year earlier but up from 161 in March. In Columbiana County, 61 houses were sold in April, a gain of two from April 2013 and from March’s 47.
Dollar volume in April was up in all three counties compared to March and April 2013. In Mahoning County, sales of houses last month totaled $18.5 million, up from $17.9 million a year earlier and from $14.2 million in March. Trumbull County’s sales volume last month was $12.8 million, up from $10.2 million in April 2013 and from $8.9 million in March. In Columbiana County, the monthly total last month was $6.7 million, up from $4.5 million a year earlier and from $4.8 million in March.
The average sale price in April of a house in Columbiana County was $109,652, up from $102,866 in March and up from $75,478 in April 2013. In Mahoning County, the April average sale price was $92,128, up from $88,455 in March and from $88,422 in April 2013. Trumbull County’s $84,574 average sale price last month was up from $78,237 a year earlier and from $68,267 in March.
April selling prices ranged from $3,000 to $685,000 in Mahoning County, $6,000 to $525,000 in Trumbull County and $15,000 to $329,900 in Columbiana County.
