wysu commentary guidelines

If you're a regular listener to NPR news programs, you're probably familiar with the occasional brief commentary during the morning or evening news programs by experts in various fields; people providing insight into public affairs, observations on the arts, and thoughts on how we live. WYSU-FM would like to offer an opportunity to Youngstown State University’s many intelligent, insightful, and creative faculty and staff to provide thought-provoking commentary and analysis on timely topics that would be of general interest to our audience. If you would like to have your commentary considered for broadcast, or would like to explore an idea for a commentary, please read the guidelines below and get in touch with Gary Sexton by phone, e-mail or fax. Editorial Guidelines for WYSU-FM Commentaries

  1. The topic should be thought provoking, timely, and of interest to our audience.
  2. WYSU-FM management retains full editorial control on the commentaries.
  3. The reading of the commentary must meet WYSU-FM’s standards.
  4. Commentary length must be between two and three minutes.
  5. The commentary will be produced and edited by a member of WYSU-FM’s staff.
  6. Commentaries will air during either Morning Edition or All Things Considered.
  7. For consideration, submit a written copy to:
